Our unit is thrilled to host our First Annual Fishing Tournament! 🏆🐟 Grab your rods, reels, and tackle boxes, and get ready for an unforgettable day on the water!

We’re teaming up with Go Giterz', a Central TX fishing group with 2,000+ members and a reputation for hosting top-notch tournaments—featured on local TV! 📺🎣 Whether you're a seasoned angler or just casting your first line, this event is for all ages and skill levels.

All proceeds from this tournament will go directly to programs that are vital to veterans, families, and communities served by the American Legion Post 42 in Gatesville. Your participation helps support those who have served our country! 🇺🇸❤️

Love is in the air, and we’re bringing it to the table at American Legion Post 42 on Friday, February 14th! Treat yourself and your Valentine to a night of great food, great company, and even a chance to win a Special Valentine’s Day Raffle Basket offered by Auxiliary Unit 42!

Member Spotlight on Shawna Fry!

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 42 is proud to spotlight Shawna Fry, a dedicated member who brings passion and purpose to our organization.

Shawna was born in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and raised in Waco, Texas, before making Gatesville her home in 2004. She currently works as a Legal Assistant for McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen, where her career has grown into a lifelong passion. Shawna is celebrating an incredible milestone this year—28 years with her firm.

When she’s not working, Shawna enjoys attending her daughters’ sporting events and taking them on memorable road trips. In fact, she’s on a mission to visit all 50 states with her daughters before they turn 16. So far, the trio has checked off 23 states!

Shawna joined the American Legion Auxiliary to honor her father, a Vietnam veteran, and to be part of a local service organization that aligns with her values. We’re fortunate to have her as Vice President of Unit 42, where her dedication and heart inspire us all.

🌟 Member Spotlight: Vickie Reynolds 🌟

Let’s take a moment to celebrate our incredible Auxiliary Unit Chaplain, Vickie Reynolds! 💙 Born and raised in New Mexico, Vickie’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.

She followed in her father’s footsteps and worked as a lab tech in the oilfield for 25 years, before transitioning into a career in environmental, health, and safety. A true example of resilience and adaptability!

Vickie and her husband made Gatesville their home nearly 10 years ago. Now retired, they enjoy the simple joys of life: camping, fishing, golf, and most importantly, spending time with their grandkids. 🏕️🎣⛳👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

As our Auxiliary Chaplain, Vickie plays a vital role in our community, offering support, guidance, and compassion. She’s passionate about the Legion’s mission to advocate for every veteran, of every generation, as well as service members and their families.

She shares, “The American Legion has so much to offer—from classes to meetings, or just a night out together for dinner and drinks. Even if you just need kind words, a smile, or a friend, this is the place to be.”

We’re so grateful to have Vickie as part of our Auxiliary family. Let’s give her a big thank-you for all she does to make Post 42 a welcoming and supportive place for everyone! 💐💖

🌟 Meet Jessica Loecken! 🌟

We’re thrilled to introduce Jessica Loecken, one of the newest members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 42!

Jessica was born and raised in Gatesville, TX, and is currently the Commissary Supervisor at the Alfred D. Hughes Unit TDCJ. She’s also a busy mom to three daughters and two sons and is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice—talk about inspiring!

When she’s not studying or working, Jessica enjoys gardening and playing softball. Her passion for our community led her to join the Auxiliary, where she’s excited to be part of something bigger and make a positive impact by helping others.

We’re so lucky to have you as part of the Auxiliary family, Jess!

Let’s take a moment to recognize the amazing Angela Fernandez-Gomez, a dedicated and passionate member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 42!

Angela has lived in Gatesville for nearly 40 years and works as an abstractor at Land Exchange Abstract & Title Co., bringing over 8 years of experience in the title industry. She’s also proudly married to Ted Gomez, our Post 42 Commander!

When Angela isn’t hard at work, you’ll find her enjoying motorcycle rides, playing pool, or spending time with friends.

Her contributions to the Auxiliary are nothing short of incredible:

📋 Executive Board Member for 3 years
🗂 Planning & Bar/House Committees for 1 year

Priti’s true passion shines through her dedication to giving back to the community. As Secretary and Treasurer of Unit 42, she plays a vital role in supporting local veterans and active duty service members, ensuring they receive the care and recognition they deserve.
