MOMS - Molding Our Male Seeds
·
🧡 My heart is overflowing with joy.
For years, I have wanted Ahoskie to officially recognize and observe National Gun Violence Awareness Day. While our community has hosted important efforts such as Guns Down, Prayers Up through the Ahoskie Police Department and Silence the Violence through the Ahoskie Peace Collective, there had never been an event specifically connected to National Gun Violence Awareness Day itself.
Today, that changed.
Thanks to the coverage from WITN and the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, Ahoskie is now connected not only to the tragedies caused by gun violence but also to the prevention, awareness, and community engagement that this national day represents.
As the founder of MOMS (Molding Our Male Seeds), this moment means more than I can put into words. It represents years of advocacy, conversations, community involvement, and a commitment to creating positive alternatives for our youth.
This isn’t just a win for MOMS—it’s a win for Ahoskie. It shows that our community is not only acknowledging the impact of gun violence but also taking steps to promote prevention, hope, and unity.
Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, partnered, and helped make this moment possible. Today, Ahoskie is part of a national conversation about prevention, and that makes my heart smile. 🧡
