June is Men’s Health Month!

Taking care of your health is one of the strongest things you can do for yourself, your family, and your community. Men in communities of color are more likely to experience chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease — but regular checkups, healthy eating, physical activity, and stress management can make a difference.

This month, the Highland Neighborhood Association encourages all men to schedule a wellness visit, know their numbers, and prioritize their health.

Mental Health Month is a reminder that struggling does not make you weak — and asking for help is a sign of strength. Communities of color often face unique stressors, including discrimination, financial hardship, trauma, and barriers to accessing mental health care.

You do not have to carry those burdens alone. Prioritizing your mental health is an important part of healing, wellness, and self-care.

✨ Ways to support your mental health:
✔️ Check in with yourself regularly
✔️ Talk to someone you trust
✔️ Stay physically active
✔️ Make time for things that bring you joy
✔️ Reach out for professional support when needed

Your mental health matters just as much as your physical health. Taking care of yourself helps you continue showing up for your family, friends, and community.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, service, and dedication will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family, friends, and neighbors this Memorial Day, let us also take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by military families and veterans from all backgrounds and communities who helped protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

The Highland Neighborhood Association extends gratitude to all who have served and to the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

❤️ We remember. We honor. We thank you. 💙
