Saturday, August 15 is the Commemoration of the 251st Anniversary of the signing of the Tryon Resolves.

On August 14, 1775, a group of men gathered in Christian Mauney’s log cabin home, where they drafted the Tryon Resolves. A bold declaration that they would resist unjust treatment by the British Crown and defend their liberties.

This year’s ceremony is hosted by the Tryon Resolves Chapter, NSDAR, in partnership with the Battle of Kings Mountain Chapter, NSSAR.

The gracious and knowledgeable Audrey Ramseur will be the guest speaker!

Come out and celebrate their brave sacrifice and remember the courage and determination of these early patriots whose resolve helped pave the way toward American independence.

Time: 10am

Location: The Tryonota Volunteer Fire Department
2577 Tryon Courthouse Road
Bessemer City, NC

How do the members of Major William Chronicle celebrate America's 250th?

By channeling the spirit of their Patriot ancestors.

Despite temperatures soaring above 100 degrees, these dedicated women spent Independence Day ensuring others could experience and appreciate the story of our nation's founding.

Christine, Melinda, Melissa, and Charlene proudly rode through the Gaston County Parade in Dallas, driven by Melissa's husband, Larry.

Meanwhile, member Lynne was at the Museum of the Waxhaws, firing musket and cannon volleys as part of Kingsbury's Artillery. When asked why she willingly reenacts in such extreme heat, she replied:

"Reading our ancestors' names on paper and knowing their service is one thing, but being a reenactor and standing where they stood, carrying the same equipment, marching the same miles, and experiencing just a small part of the physical and mental demands they endured, has given me a much deeper appreciation of their choices. I can never truly experience what they did, but every event reminds me that the freedoms we enjoy today were purchased at their tremendous cost. Reenacting is my way of honoring them, sharing their stories, and ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten."

Hats off to the ladies of Major William Chronicle, who understand that being a member of the DAR is about far more than pins and pageantry. It is about knowing and defending our Constitution, educating the public about our history—especially the American Revolution—and honoring those who have served and continue to serve our nation.

As America celebrates her 250th birthday, these women aren't simply remembering history—they are helping keep it alive.
