The PCCS High School Chick-fil-A Leader Academy was honored to be selected as one of only two schools nationwide to receive funding through Coca-Cola’s Sustainability Innovation Challenge. With this grant, along with 100 Gardens, our students are working to install an aquaponics system in order to achieve their vision of "a world without waste" and a more sustainable future. 🌎🌱

During our Leader Academy kickoff, students celebrated this incredible achievement alongside our valued community partner, Nolan Hatley, Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Cox Road as they experienced the system for the first time.

Aquaponics combines raising fish and growing plants and is an environmentally friendly way to grow food while conserving water. The system has the potential to grow 728 plants each year, creating opportunities for hands-on learning in science, agriculture, sustainability, and technology.

Thanks to the generosity of our Patriot families over the years, our Middle School Color Run fundraisers have helped us refurnish 5 classrooms with brand-new student desks and chairs and expand our science lab tables! We aim to continue these improvements with the help of donations made through this year's fundraiser and you can help by logging on to myadvzone.com! 🏃🏽✨

Since we kicked off last week, our students have brought in pledges and won some awesome prizes! We are excited to celebrate on October 16th when we'll be concluding the fundraiser with our annual PCCS Color Run! Be sure to follow the middle school's Parentsquare posts for the latest prize giveaways and fundraiser updates.

It's National Fire Prevention Week! 🚒 🔥 Our kindergarten classes got a special visit from Ladder 3 of the Gastonia Fire Department. Students got an up-close view of the truck, learned about their equipment and procedures to follow in emergency situations. Piedmont thanks our Gastonia firefighters for their time and commitment to keeping our community safe!
