Lend a Hand, Leave a Legacy — Trail Work Day at Crowders Mountain

The trails need you! Whether you’ve volunteered before or this is your first time, everyone is welcome to join us for a rewarding morning of giving back to the place we love.

The Friends of Crowders Mountain are hosting a community Trail Work Day, and we need all hands on deck to help maintain the trails that bring so much joy to so many.

We'll kick off the day with light refreshments and a chance to connect with others who care deeply about this beautiful park. Our experienced trail crew leaders will guide you—no prior experience needed!

What’s provided:
🧤 Work gloves & safety glasses
🧴 Insect repellent & water
🍎 Snacks
🛠 All necessary tools

What to bring:
✔ Comfortable outdoor clothes
✔ Any personal medications
✔ Your energy and enthusiasm!

Start 2025 with a First Day Hike at Crowders Mountain State Park!

Looking for a fun, free way to kick off the new year? Join the Friends of Crowders Mountain for one (or both!) of our First Day Hike options on January 1st, 2025.

🌟 Option 1: Two Parks, Two States, One Trail

Start Time: 10:00 AM
Start Location: CCC Bathhouse Trailhead, Kings Mountain State Park (SC)
End Location: Boulders Access Area, Crowders Mountain State Park (NC)
Distance: 5.6 miles (moderate hike)
Details: A scenic journey on the Ridgeline Trail that connects two parks in two states! A shuttle will be provided to return you to your vehicle at Kings Mountain.

🌟 Option 2: Boulders Overlook Hike

Start Time: 1:30 PM
Location: Boulders Access Area, Crowders Mountain State Park
Distance: 2 miles (moderate hike)
Details: A shorter hike featuring majestic views and unique rock outcroppings.
Hosted by Friends of Crowders Mountain and Free of Cost!

What to Bring:
Appropriate hiking shoes
Water
A snack

Important: Hikes may be canceled due to inclement weather. Please check the Crowders Mountain State Park website or call the park office at 704-853-5375 for updates.

Both hikes are family-friendly and open to all! Start your year with adventure, fresh air, and stunning views.

Looking to help out with trail clean up after Hurricane Helene? Friends of Crowders Mountain are hosting a work day on Saturday, November 23 at 8:30AM! Head out to 📍Sparrow Springs Visitor Center, 522 Park Office Lane, Kings Mountain, NC and meet the team and trail crew.

Trail work volunteers will be treated to lunch after the workday. Water, snacks, work gloves, safety glasses, insect repellant, and tools will be provided. Dress appropriately for outdoor work and bring any necessary medications. The event is weather dependent☀️

At our Year of the Bear program, learn about North Carolina's black bears that call the mountains and coasts home.

Join us on a Guided Junior Ranger Hike to complete the challenge and receive your Junior Ranger Badge!

The Friends of Crowders Mountain thanks volunteers and park staff who debermed, trimmed, and picked up litter on the Ridgeline Trail at Boulders.

Reminder: National Public Lands Day is Saturday, September 28. The location will be announced closer to the event. Friends will provide lunch. Join us!
