American Legion Auxiliary Post 279 Founded in 1919, The American Legion Auxiliary has nearly 1 million members from all walks of life. It is all accomplished with volunteers.

The Auxiliary administers hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs, as well as other worthwhile charities familiar to Americans. While originally organized to assist The American Legion, the Auxiliary has achieved its own unique identity while working side-by-side with the veterans who belong to The American Legion. Like the Legion, the Auxiliary’s interests have broadened to encompass the entire community. The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization. Through its nearly 10,500 units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. Along with The American Legion, it solidly stands behind America and her ideals.

New Indiana Laws Take Effect July 1!

Over 160 new laws are officially going into effect across the state this week. From classrooms to local communities, here are the biggest changes Hoosiers need to know:

School Cellphone Ban: A new "bell-to-bell" ban means students cannot use cellphones, tablets, or smartwatches during instructional time unless allowed by a teacher.

Public Camping Ban: It is now a misdemeanor to camp or sleep on unauthorized public property, carrying a penalty of up to 60 days in jail.

Dogs in Hot Cars: Good Samaritans are now protected from civil liability if they break into a hot vehicle to save an animal, as long as they call 911 first.

Strict Doxing Laws: Posting someone's personal info online with the intent to cause harm or harassment is now classified as a criminal intimidation offense.

Masks and Crime: Committing a crime while wearing a mask or hood to hide your identity will now lead to harsher criminal sentencing aggravators.

Each year, we honor the military personnel who gave their lives in service.
The American Legion Auxiliary has placed donation cans at businesses throughout the Miller area. Proceeds from poppy donations directly support disabled and hospitalized veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.
