The Miller Dunes American Legion Auxiliary Unit 279 has experienced its share of challenges, but our dedication to supporting our veterans and serving the local community remains unwavering. We would like to reintroduce ourselves and share our ongoing mission with you!
Although the Miller Dunes Post 279 of the American Legion is not active at this moment, the Auxiliary remains active and strong. We are steadfast in our commitment to gather and invest in our community. Through organizing and planning special projects, we continue to assist local families and children. Our mission is service not self; we are here to serve those who have served and defended our country, making our community a better place for all.
We are proud to serve veterans at the Indiana Veterans Home, the Veterans at Hines VA Hospital, and female veterans who receive care at the Adam Benjamin, Jr. VA Outpatient Clinic in Crown Point, Indiana.
Our efforts extend to donating school supplies to local schools, volunteering at area food pantries and food banks, and participating in events for the Miller Humane Society. We are continually growing, seeking new ways to serve our community and promote unity.
We are especially proud of our poppy program. Each year, we distribute the iconic red crepe paper poppies handmade by veterans. Every Memorial Day we honor and remember those who have served.
