Charges Filed and Subject Arrested in Shooting Investigation ā Incident
Update to Shooting Incident:
On January 29, 2025 members of the Lake County Prosecutorās Homicide Task Force along with Gary Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 6300 block of Tennessee Street, Hammond, Indiana.
Gary SWAT secured the residence and Damonte S Crawford āaka Damonte S. Jonesā was located hiding in the basement by a Gary Police K9.
Damonte S Crawford was transported to the Lake County Jail where he will be confined.
Damonte S Crawford was charged on January 24, 2025, with (1) Murder, (2) Attempted Murder charges and (3) Firearm Enhancements, while using a firearm during a commission of a crime.
A second individual was taken into custody as well and charges will be presented to the Lake County Prosecutorās Office in the morning.

Gary, Indiana ā January 21, 2025
At approximately 10:28 PM on January 21, 2025, the Gary Police Department responded to a report of a possible gunshot victim at a residence in the 2100 block of Delaware Street in Gary, Indiana.
Upon arrival, officers located a 22-year-old female from East Chicago, Indiana, who had sustained a gunshot wound. She was transported to Methodist Northlake Hospital by the Gary Fire Department for medical treatment.
Inside the residence, officers discovered a 26-year-old male from Gary, Indiana, unresponsive in the kitchen. Despite life-saving efforts by the Gary Fire Department, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A third victim, identified as a 31-year-old male from Chicago, Illinois, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Methodist Northlake Hospital by a private party.
The crime scene was secured, and the Lake County Prosecutorās Homicide Task Force, Lake County Coronerās Office, and Lake County Crime Lab were contacted to assist with the investigation.
