On behalf of the Heroes Helping Heroes, we would like to extend our gratitude and say, “THANK YOU!” to all in the Medical field, First Responders, Military and ALL essential workers who are working on the frontlines to fight this invisible enemy! We appreciate your call to duty during the COVID-19 Pandemic. We salute each and every one of you and your families for your continued efforts and sacrifices.

Although we were not able to have our annual event this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, you can still donate to help us help those who make such a huge difference in all of our lives.

We lost another Hero. Dick epitomized the very definition of a hero.

A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really deeply cares. A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.

“If they are remembered, they are not gone truly, they simply change duty assignments and are amongst our best.”

Rest easy brother, you’ll never be forgotten.

Dick Ambrosius, age 73 of Sioux Falls passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1030 AM Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Church of St. Mary in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be on Monday, January 27, 2020

A civilian asked his veteran friend "Why did you call that stranger a brother, when you don't even know who he is?"

Fair question...Here was his reply. "See that uniform he is wearing? He serves in the United States military. That, in itself, makes us brothers. Don't care where he is from, what color he is, who he voted for, or even who he prays too. He is still my brother, because he chose to put himself second, and his country first. For all I know, he has walked where I have walked, left sweat where I left sweat, and left drops of blood, where I did too..And that too, makes us brothers. From the time he raised his right hand, and signed on the dotted line, until time no longer exists, he will forever be my brother. Same with the women that served. They will forever be my sisters. They have my back, and I have theirs."

The civilian friend stated, "wow, I never looked at it or even thought about it like that. That's awesome. Does every Vet feel like you do?"

"Yes they do...We are family, first and foremost. Forever Family..."
