Can we have your attention??😬 while most of us are still without power we are still feeling optimistic that it will come back any day!!?? 😳 can we ask you to start to think ahead? 🧐 The garden club is planning a roadtrip on 9/12 to Grand Rapids, please see the details below. Reservations on Eventbrite will absolutely close on 8/29 as we have to confirm our attendance numbers with Meijer Gardens. If you haven’t done so please visit the link below and sign up.

Join us on Saturday September 12th as we hit the highway to the Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids Michigan to experience the works of glass artist Dale Chihuly. Sign up using the Eventbrite link below. $60 +$5.87 (processing fee) includes:

*Tram Ride Tour

We are organizing drivers, we will meet at Lessard Hall parking lot -St Mary’s on the Lake at 8:00 am. We plan to return around 5:00pm.

Just checking in and hoping everyone is ok. Our beautiful community and its members sustained heartbreaking damage from Tuesday’s storm. Like everything that happens in Miller Beach the community rallied! With chainsaws in hand giant branches were cut and cleared, some even showed up with trucks to pull the largest of limbs out of the way to clear our streets. That storm may have uprooted our community but it did not affect our sense of pride and spirit. When the debris is finally cleared please know the Miller Garden Club will be out there sprucing up our community spaces and regardless of the loss of our landscape our community will always be beautiful ❤️ Please if you can continue to check on your neighbors and when our businesses are back up and running please try to patronize if you can. Stay safe.

The Love Your Block Grant to the Farmers Market will also include this epic mosaic light post gracing our entrance by the exceptional artist Jennifer Taylor AKA Ms. Sparkle House. Wow! How can you not ❤️your block, ❤️ our Farmers Market, ❤️Jennifer Taylor, ❤️❤️Miller Beach, and ❤️ Gary, Indiana! Bravo 🙌 🙌 🙌

Another day…another Miller Garden Club accomplishment! Thanks to Jennie Rudderman for organizing an awesome productive event! An amazing group of volunteers showed up to beautify the Gateway to Miller today.
Drumroll🥁please…
Many thanks to all of these volunteers:
Karin Simon and Diane for edging, w**ding, and mulching the Welcome to Miller sign. New plants to come soon!
Non-Miller volunteers Santina and two other women for picking up trash
John Ploof for leading the w**ding and mulching of the trees, with help from Tom Randall, Heidi Hedeker and Kathy Grimler
Rebecca Kendall, Anthony and Kevin from the Juvenile Justice program picked up trash, and a young man, for w**ding, cutting branches, and mulching the fence line along the railroad
Robin Rich for transplanting native strawberries that will hopefully establish and create a ground cover that keeps down those w**ds
Vanessa, her friend Diane, Carol Smith, Sue V***a, Danielle Sleight, and Becky Hanscom for clearing so much brush along the parking lot fence line
Heidi, Lori, and Tom for keeping the momentum and clearing the fenceline for another hour and a half
Terese McDonald, Paula Rooney and a few other volunteers from the Water Safety group for transplanting Dolly Foster-grown natives into the tire garden
our two City Workers who trimmed and hauled the first load of brush (they should be back next week for the rest)
my son and partner who did some pre-workday w**d whacking and wheelbarrow assembly
Jennifer Taylor for her mosaic work, and Andrea Voisard, Mary Duggar, and two young friends who helped move the bench to our site
Gene Ayer for the donation of water, Judy Ayers for the donation of cookies, and Heidi for the donation of bread and fruit

Oh yes! It really is those lazy, hazy, and yes crazy days of summer. And Here We Hoe Again! Join Corya and Terese as they explore the spirit of gardening with Bill Carey, the caretaker of the St Mary’s of the Lake Food Pantry Farm and Community Gardens. It really has been a crazy summer between the wild fire haze and the lettuce recall now is a great time to grow some food of your own. Episode #7 is live and will provide some great tips and inspiration to get growing!
