The Blind Social Center joined forces with the City of Gary to provide storm-relief transportation for community members traveling to Hudson-Campbell for assistance.

Mrs. Blair documented the first and second drop-offs while Mr. Blair welcomed and assisted community members aboard the TBSC bus.

This is what community looks like — organizations, leaders and neighbors working together when people need us most.

What began with a vision has grown into a community—a place of independence, friendship, learning, laughter, advocacy, and belonging.

With power outages continuing throughout Gary and surrounding communities, Mr. Blair is showing exactly what resourcefulness looks like.

From fresh produce to getting a generator ready, these moments are about more than keeping things going — they reflect independence, problem-solving, preparation and community helping community.

At The Blind Social Center, blindness does not mean helplessness. Sometimes you adapt. Sometimes you improvise. Sometimes you ask for a helping hand. But you KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

⚠️ THE BLIND SOCIAL CENTER — CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠️

Due to a power outage, The Blind Social Center is CLOSED today, Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The safety and well-being of our patrons, staff, volunteers, and TBSC Family remain our priority. We will provide an update as soon as power is restored and it is safe to reopen.
