Through the Work Experience (WEX) Program, Northwest Indiana employers can help young people gain real-world experience while strengthening their own talent pipeline. Participants can work up to 320 hours, with WorkOne Northwest Indiana and Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. covering wages, payroll taxes, and workers’ compensation. It’s a practical way to invest in future talent—without adding financial burden to your organization.

🎉 Congratulations, Work B.I.G. Cohort 3! 🎉

On July 31st, we celebrated 40 Gary residents who completed the Work B.I.G. paid skills training program. We're especially proud that several graduates have already received full-time job offers from the City of Gary, while others are continuing their career journeys with local employers and training opportunities. Together, 87 Gary residents have graduated from Work B.I.G. to date.

This success is made possible through the partnership of Center of Workforce Innovations, City of Gary Government, Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc., Ivy Tech Community College Lake County, and WorkOne Northwest Indiana.
