Due to continued police activity in the immediate area of Beveridge Elementary School, classes are now being moved to the Gary Area Career Center, 1800 E. 35th Avenue where instruction will take place and breakfast and lunch will be served. All Beveridge staff are to report to the Career Center as well.

Families that are unable to transport their students to the Career Center will not be penalized for an absence.

Again, we apologize for these unforeseen circumstances., and thank you for understanding.

Good morning Beveridge families and students,

We have been notified of police activity in the immediate area of Beveridge Elementary School. With safety being our main priority, a two-hour start delay is being implemented.

Walkers and car riders should be dropped off by 9:15am with classes beginning at 9:30am. Because some buses are already in route, bus riders will be routed to the Gary Area Career Center (1800 E. 35th Avenue) until the area surrounding Beveridge is deemed secure by Gary police. Bus riders will then be transported to the school.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

Dear GCSC Scholars and Families,

As the storm aftermath continues to unfold, the Gary Community School Corporation will remain closed on Thursday, August 20th and Friday, August 21st.

We are awaiting full power restoration in all schools. Meanwhile, the assessment of our buildings continues, and our team has begun addressing repairs and safety concerns in preparation for a safe return.

It is our goal to have a better sense of a return date over the weekend.

We can't say this enough...thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through the impact of the storm.

We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
