We’ve made it to Southern Michigan. Only 3 more hours to go until we get to Lovells Township for the 2025 class of Bamboo Bend!
Cliff Taylor from the Ft. Meade Program, and Kathy Kolwicz from the Quantico Program have hours of hand planing bamboo strips in their very near future.
Kirby Klein from Quantico is this year’s trip lead, and Jim is doing the cooking for everyone.

“Pictures are worth a thousand words”
The best I can describe what I see in these pictures is Men and women who have fought for Americas freedoms, given an opportunity to let their guard down for a moment, and enjoy what they have fought for.
Life, liberty and happiness.
Captured in a single photo are moments frozen in time of absolute happiness, serenity and gratitude. These incredible moments are celebrated, amongst the fog of war that may linger within many who have served; often still enduring war after decades of relief from their duties.
Project healing waters gives back to Veterans the peace of mind and serenity that at times may feel lost.

Every week participants come together and share stories and good laughter while tying flys, fishing, and learning about the local fishery.
This week we begin in a new journey! Thanks to project healing waters and the support of donations to the program, we have succeeded in funding for each wounded warrior to participate in building their own Rod. Each day consists of a new lesson in rod building fundamentals and customization.

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work😉 we got lucky and had a good day of fishing with a lot of action from some young but aggressive bass and brim on the pond.

Don caught the big fish of the day, with a 15” largemouth mass. Austin was the only fisherman to finesse a trout during a major temp spike going from 65 degrees the day prior to a toasty 90 degrees the day we were on the water!

Had a great overnight trip to the Rose River.
