Building a deer exclosure to support forest regeneration at Granite Mountain Preserve? Kinda chic, honestly...

Unlike most trends, though, this one doesn't expire in a season. HHLT staff, partners, and volunteers are doing the work to ensure that Hudson Highlands' forests (and the people who love them) thrive for generations, not just one viral moment.

Want in on the trend that actually lasts? Stay in the loop on HHLT volunteer days and news this fall. Join our monthly e-newsletter. Sign up here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/OtH1TlI/hhltcommunity

Join us this Thursday, Aug. 20, at Granite Mountain Preserve in Putnam Valley to install a deer exclosure fence along the Red-Yellow trail. Working alongside HHLT staff, summer interns, and volunteers, you’ll help support biodiversity and ecosystem health at the preserve. This effort is a vital step in restoring a section of forest that has been selected for our fall native planting site.

Are you looking to enjoy a cool morning outdoors? Join HHLT summer interns Sylvan and Meera, along with community volunteers, TOMORROW at Lane Gate Preserve ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/NXHkqiA9j5eXJzcTA ) for a hands-on stewardship workday. We will be removing invasive species, maintaining trails, and keeping HHLT preserves clean. This event is open to everyone, and no experience is required. Just show up, sign a waiver, and get outside!

What to bring: Gloves and hand tools you enjoy (shears, loppers, etc.) are welcome but not required. HHLT will have tools and gloves available for all volunteers. Remember to bring water!

This week's storms have impacted parts of our region, and our team is out assessing HHLT conserved lands, including our preserves, for any damage.

We don't encourage heading outdoors in these conditions, but we know how much our community loves connecting with nature. If you do find yourself on an HHLT preserve this weekend and notice impaired trail conditions, please take a moment to submit a note through our Report a Concern page. Thank you for helping us keep our trails safe.
