Today is the day! REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the 2026 ND Governor’s Walleye Cup!
Drop your complete and legible applications in the mail today. Remember if you are taking to the post office, to have them stamped with today’s date.
We have been told that there will be a postmaster working in the Garrison post office this morning, so don’t get your registrations in a ruffle with the announcement last week about limited staff and hours.
If you need a copy of the application, you can print right from our website, ndgovernorscup.com.

It's time to find your partners, get that application filled out and ready to send off to us on JANUARY 20TH!
REMINDER: WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY APPLICATIONS POSTMARKED BEFORE THE 20TH!!! They will be mailed back to you if sent early.
Another tip to make sure it is postmarked correctly is to take it to your local post office window and have them physically stamp it with the date.

The North Dakota Governor's Walleye Cup is the region's largest walleye fishing tournament held annually in Garrison, ND, along the beautiful shores of Lake Sakakawea.

Clean. Drain. Dry. Help protect our lakes from ANS!

Zebra Mussels found at Smishek Lake

The Department has confirmed a reproducing population of zebra mussels in Smishek Lake, now classified as a Class I ANS infested waterbody. No water — including bait water — may be removed from the lake.

Recommendations for water recreationists include:

- Clean, drain and dry boats and gear.
- Avoid mooring watercraft in the lake, which gives mussels time to attach to your boat.
- All docks, lifts and related equipment must be dried and left out of water for at least 21 days before being placed in another waterbody.
- Fall is the time to inspect docks and lifts as you pull them for the season - report anything unusual at gf.nd.gov/ans.

Let's work to stop the spread and protect our waters.

It’s no surprise that the 2025 Comeback Award, sponsored by Four Seasons Restaurant, goes to Nate Fields & James Grote!
They went from 238th place with 0 lbs on Day 1 to the impressive and record breaking bag of 31.15 lbs, pushing them into their 15th place finish on day 2 of the 50th annual ND Governor’s Walleye Cup.
