THANK YOU, GARRISON!

Now that things have settled down after the National Walleye Tour Championship, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who had a hand in helping make this event happen right here in Garrison!

A special thank you to:

Lenore’s Outdoors & Catering for providing a wonderful meal for the Rules Meeting on Wednesday.

RTC Networks for sending some extra hands to help out on Thursday and Friday, both with moving bags & baskets and hauling ice.

S & J Hardware for sharing our volunteer need with their employees and to those employees who stepped up and lent a hand on Saturday with baskets!

All of our other local volunteers who gave their time throughout the event. Your help was greatly appreciated and played an important role in keeping things moving!

Harbor Angels for volunteering their time to clean and prepare the fish that were unable to be successfully released back into the lake. While the tournament operates as catch-and-release, occasionally a fish simply isn’t able to make the trip back to the water. We greatly appreciate Harbor Angels stepping in to make sure those fish could still be put to good use!

🌲 And, of course, a huge thank you to Fort Stevenson State Park for their great service, welcoming attitudes, and all around support throughout the entire weekend.

Hosting an event like the National Walleye Tour Championship takes a team effort, and we are so grateful for the businesses, organizations, volunteers, and community members who stepped up to help showcase Garrison and Lake Sakakawea to anglers and visitors from near and far.

Congratulations to this year’s champions and to all of the Pro and Co-anglers who competed right here on the east end of beautiful Lake Sakakawea!

A big thank you to every angler, along with the family members, friends, and teams who joined us in Garrison for Championship week. We truly enjoyed having you in our community and hope you had a chance to experience a little of what makes Garrison and Lake Sakakawea such a special place.

Lake Sakakawea doesn't always give up her secrets easily but it sure was fun to watch some of the best walleye anglers around work to crack the code on our waters!

Thank you, National Walleye Tour, for bringing the Championship to Garrison, and congratulations again to everyone who competed! We hope to see plenty of you back on Sakakawea again. 🎣

Final day of the National Walleye Tour Championship here at Fort Stevenson State Park in Garrison!

Pro & Co-anglers are taking off in the order of their rankings.

Scales open at 11:00am with flights officially due in at 3:00pm & 3:30pm.

Day 2 underway! National Walleye Tour

Day 1 of the National Walleye Tour Championship is underway!

Weigh-ins will officially start at 3:00pm each day in the Fort Stevenson State Park Marina between the ramp and concessions building (early weigh-ins start as early as 11:00am).

Take off is at 7:00am on the dot each day for those early risers!

We’re fishing for a few more volunteers! (Pun intended!) 🎣

The National Walleye Tour Championship is here, and we still need a few helping hands to keep things moving.. literally! Volunteers will help move fish bags & baskets during weigh-in from roughly 2:30-5:00pm.

🐟Thursday, August 27: 2 volunteers still needed
🐟Saturday, August 29: 1-2 more volunteers would be great!

This could be a perfect opportunity for juniors or seniors who are out of school early, local businesses or organizations wanting to send a volunteer crew and show some community spirit, or simply anyone willing to lend a hand for a few hours!

Come be part of the action as Garrison hosts the 2026 National Walleye Tour Championship right here on Lake Sakakawea! No fishing experience required, just a willingness to help haul the catch! 😉

Welcome to Garrison, Vintage Airstream Club!

We’re excited to welcome approximately 40 vintage Airstream campers to Garrison! These iconic campers will be set up at Fort Stevenson State Park and enjoying our area until Saturday before making their way to Minot for the Airstream Club International Rally.

If you cross paths with our visitors around town, help us give them a warm Garrison welcome and wish them safe travels!💙

And if you’re feeling curious, venture out to Fort Stevenson to catch a glimpse of all those vintage Airstreams set up together.. it’s sure to be quite the sight!
