Work continues at the museum even in the winter. Since the front and back of outside of museum finished we are starting on the inside. With the outside completed we are starting work on another room on the inside. "The Church Room" is being remodeled now with more area to hang exhibits and a section just for the Arthur Capper Display.

Also the Gerth Cabin, in Greeley, will be receiving a new roof to replace the leaky and holey roof on it now. It will be finished in time for our "Gerth Cabin Event" in April.

The Anderson County Historical Museum is getting some repairs on the front and the back of the museum. The front on top of the brick was at the front and back center were leaning inwards toward the roof. The stop a disaster happening to the roof we are having it repaired by a company from Fort Scott. Presently the front is completed and they are working on the back of the building.
Other repairs will be in the coming months to one of the rooms inside the museum that has significant water damage from the leaking of the old roof. This is room number 3 to get the remodeling. When it is completed we will have an area dedicated to our Arthur Capper display. As you will remember Arthur Capper was the first governor born in Kansas. He also served many years as a Senator in our nation's capitol. Capper and his wife were founders of the Capper Foundation an organization helping children

Museum season will be ending September 30th so come to the museum soon. Open Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturdays 1-4 p.m. After September 1st it is best to e-mail at [email protected] as no one will be answering the museum phone since we are closed. We are happy to open the museum, Harris House and Gerth Cabin for tours when ever the museum is not open during the summer hours. So send us and e-mail and we will meet you. Admission is free, but we do accept donations.
