The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our fourth members only tournament of 2026 on May 9th on Lake Bob Sandlin. The weather was bordering on hot and there was surprisingly little wind for late spring in Texas. 31 teams came out to fish with us. Fishing was very solid as 24 of those teams weighed in 5 fish limits. Finding kickers was the issue. 1.5 - 2.5 pounders were in abundance but bigger fish were scarce. At the end of the day, the team of Preston Smith and Stan Browning won going away with a limit that weighed 19.77. That included an 8.87 beast that David Choate guided the cast to on Stan’s third cast of the morning to take home big bass of the tournament.

Thanks to Steven Otto and Charlie Martinez for doing registration. Thanks to Vince Burt and Mark Werner for running a smooth weigh in. Thanks to Garrett Browne for keeping the money straight. Next up on Saturday June 13th we will be on Lake O’ The Pines going out of the Cedar Springs ramp, starting at 6:00AM. If you want to fish with us and are not a member, you will need to attend the meeting on Tuesday June 9th at Flying Fish. Hope to see you there!

Lake Tawakoni brought out 31 boats and fished tough but as always, somebody is going to find them! Tony Bryant & Brig Norwood brought the biggest limit of 5 bass back to weigh in with a 6.92 kicker! Thank you everyone for coming out!

We’ve had a few inquiries about Saturday. Here are the details. Registration and weigh in at the SRA Holiday Ramp. Fishing hours are 6:40-3:00. Registration starts at 5:15. Chip on the board by 3:30. Weigh in starts then. Please take advantage of trailering on Tawakoni.

I hate to make this post. As you may have heard, we lost brother David Choate. David meant a lot, to a lot of people. He has been a cornerstone to fishing clubs all over north/east Texas.

The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our second points tournament of 2026 on Saturday March 14th on Cypress Springs Lake. The day started chilly but many ended the day on shorts. It was windy but it’s March in Texas so it goes with the territory. 30 boats came out to fish with us and of those 30, 12 teams weighed in five fish limits, so fishing was pretty good. Bigger fish were a bit finicky though so 13 pounds won you a bit of money. We had a couple big bags weighed in though. The team of Tyler and Landon O’ Connor came out with the victory weighing a stout 19.66 pounds. Big bass honors went to Jay and Garrett Browne with a 6.80 beast.

Next up on the schedule is Lake Tawakoni on Saturday April 11th. We’ll run things out of the SRA Holiday ramp. If you are new and would like to fish that one, you’ll need to come out to our meeting on Tuesday April 7th at Flying Fish in Firewheel Town Center in Garland. Hope to see you there!

Over 50 boats showed up for our open tournament this past Saturday! It took over 25lbs to win overall with a 9.22 taking big fish. Regular tournament meetings are Tuesdays at Flying Fish the week of a tournament. Hope to see some of y’all fish our regular season with us. There’s still time to join and fish the season!

Hey folks, just a reminder that our Annual Open Tournament is coming up
this Saturday, February 28th on Lake Ray Hubbard.

-The tournament will be
run out of Chandlers Landing Marina. We will start registration at 5:30.

-First cast that day is 6:45. Lines are out at 3:00 and weigh in starts
at 3:30.

-Entry fee for the Open is $100 and if you are going to launch at Chandlers, it's $10 paid when you register.

Weather is looking really
good. A bit breezy but it's spring in Texas so...

We have at least one member looking for an open back seat for this one so if you need a partner, please contact Tom asap.

Remember, it's an Open so you do NOT have to be a member to fish. Spread
the word to your friends and enemies alike! More boats means more potential members. Let's get some boats on the water folks! See you Saturday!
