The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our eighth members only points tournament of 2025 on Saturday September 12th on Lake Holbrook. It's a bit of a drive and with temps expected over 100 (again) our turnout was just 19 boats.

Fishing was decent with 6 boats having 5 fish limits but bigger fish were at a premium. When the counting was over the team of Clark Crenshaw and Chris Lewis blew the field away with a great sack weighing 20.60 piounds! That included big bass of the tournament of 6.67.

Thanks to Eugene McBride for doing registration. Thanks to Vince Burt, Mark Werner, Eugene and Chris Atkinson for getting weigh in done quickly and efficiently.

Next up is our last points tournament of the year on Saturday October 10th at Lake Palestine. We're running things out of Lake Palestine Resort and fishing 7:00 - 3:00. We're really hoping it's not 100 degrees.

The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our seventh members only tournament of 2026 on Saturday August 8th on Lake Ray Hubbard. Chandlers was kind enough to host us during their peak season and 30 boats came out to fish in the August heat. Fishing was fairly tough as only 8 teams brought a five fish limit in on our shortened six hour fishing day.
Competition was tough for the payouts and tightly bunched except for the winning team. The kids whipped us again. Landon O'Connor and Bryce Hatch weighed a monster summertime bag of 26.23 pounds to lap the field. That included big bass of the tournament with a 7.02.
Thanks to Eugene McBride for doing registration and helping at weigh in. Vince Burt and Mark Werner doing TD work. Garrett Browne handled the money and thanks to Micah Secor from Chandlers. Only two tournaments remain in our regular season! Next up on Saturday Septembwer 12th we will be at Lake Holbrook! Our meeting will be on Tuesday September 8th. Hope to see you there!

The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our fifth points tournament of 2026 on Saturday June 13th on Lake O The Pines. The long drive and a long day in 100 degree heat kept the turnout down to 19 teams. Despite tht. fishing was pretty good with 12 of the 19 bringing a 5 fish limit to the scales. Yes it was hot but we had a good wind up most of the day and that made it tolerable out there. When the day was done. the team of Landon O' Connor and Bryce Hatch scoped out the victory with a monster bag that weighed 26.69 pounds. That included big bass of the tournament, a 6.74 toad.

Thanks to Eugene and Tommy for taking care of registration. Thanks to Garrett Browne for taking care of the cash. Thanks to Vince Burt, Jimmy Phillips and Eugene McBride for running weigh in. Our next tournament, is a summer hours event on Lake Lavon on Saturday July 11th. We'll be fishing 6:00AM to 12:00 PM and running things out of the Lavonia Park ramp. If you would like to fish that tournament. you will need to join the Club at the meeting on Tuesday July 7th at Flying Fish in Firewheel. Hope to see you there!

Lake O’ The Pines this weekend

The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our fourth members only tournament of 2026 on May 9th on Lake Bob Sandlin. The weather was bordering on hot and there was surprisingly little wind for late spring in Texas. 31 teams came out to fish with us. Fishing was very solid as 24 of those teams weighed in 5 fish limits. Finding kickers was the issue. 1.5 - 2.5 pounders were in abundance but bigger fish were scarce. At the end of the day, the team of Preston Smith and Stan Browning won going away with a limit that weighed 19.77. That included an 8.87 beast that David Choate guided the cast to on Stan’s third cast of the morning to take home big bass of the tournament.

Thanks to Steven Otto and Charlie Martinez for doing registration. Thanks to Vince Burt and Mark Werner for running a smooth weigh in. Thanks to Garrett Browne for keeping the money straight. Next up on Saturday June 13th we will be on Lake O’ The Pines going out of the Cedar Springs ramp, starting at 6:00AM. If you want to fish with us and are not a member, you will need to attend the meeting on Tuesday June 9th at Flying Fish. Hope to see you there!

Lake Tawakoni brought out 31 boats and fished tough but as always, somebody is going to find them! Tony Bryant & Brig Norwood brought the biggest limit of 5 bass back to weigh in with a 6.92 kicker! Thank you everyone for coming out!

We’ve had a few inquiries about Saturday. Here are the details. Registration and weigh in at the SRA Holiday Ramp. Fishing hours are 6:40-3:00. Registration starts at 5:15. Chip on the board by 3:30. Weigh in starts then. Please take advantage of trailering on Tawakoni.

I hate to make this post. As you may have heard, we lost brother David Choate. David meant a lot, to a lot of people. He has been a cornerstone to fishing clubs all over north/east Texas.
