We’re celebrating 15 years of priestly ministry!

With great joy, our parish community invites you to celebrate this special anniversary with Fr. Javier and Fr. Israel.

📅 Thursday, October 1, 2026
⛪ 6:00 PM – Anniversary Mass
The Mass is open to everyone.

🍽️ 7:00 PM – Reception at The Atrium
🎟️ Tickets: $30 per person
Dinner and non-alcoholic beverages included.

Reception tickets are available at the Parish Office and after Sunday Masses.

Join us as we celebrate Fr. Javier and Fr. Israel and give thanks to God for their 15 years of priestly vocation, service, and dedication.

40 Years of Fuego Nuevo!

Today, our priests are gathered with members of the Fuego Nuevo Community as they take part in the celebration of 40 years of history, faith, and service.

In the second photo: at the center is their founder, Father Pedro Garza Puente; to his left, Brother Luis Humberto; and to his right, Deacon Jaime. Both have been members since the early days of Fuego Nuevo.

Did you know that Saint Augustine was the great thinker who transformed his life and the history of Christianity?

He was born on November 13, 354, in Tagaste, present-day Algeria. His mother, Saint Monica, was a woman of deep Catholic faith; his father, Patricius, was a man of violent character and pagan beliefs. Despite the Christian education he received, Augustine lived a youth marked by the search for worldly pleasures and a life far from faith.

At the age of 29, after a deep personal crisis, Augustine converted to Christianity, influenced by his mother’s prayers and the preaching of Saint Ambrose. He was baptized in 387 and, years later, became Bishop of Hippo. During his ministry, he defended the faith against different heresies and wrote fundamental works such as The Confessions and The City of God.

Saint Augustine died on August 28, 430, in Hippo, during the siege of the city by the Vandals. His legacy endures as one of the greatest thinkers of Christianity, known as the “Doctor of Grace.”

Today, August 28, we celebrate his memory and thank God for his example of conversion and dedication.

Our Good Shepherd Catholic Parish community extends our heartfelt condolences to Fr. José Luis Esparza Zavala and his family on the passing of his beloved mother, Carmen Zavala Almendarez.

We unite with him and his family in prayer during this difficult time. May the Lord welcome her into His eternal home and grant comfort and peace to all who mourn her passing.

A message from Fr. José Luis:

On behalf of my family and myself, I thank you all for the love, support, and prayers you have lifted up to our Lord.

I share with you that my mother, Carmen Zavala Almendarez, has now begun her journey to the eternal home of the Father.
