A working air conditioner is more than a comfort during a Texas summer.

When the downstairs HVAC unit in oa local family's home stopped working, the upstairs system was left struggling to cool the entire house. Temperatures downstairs were reaching over 80 degrees, leaving the home without reliable cooling during some of the hottest months of the year.

Thanks to support from Lowe's Home Improvement, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland was able to repair the downstairs HVAC system and restore reliable cooling throughout the home.

Critical home repairs like this help ensure our neighbors can remain safe and comfortable in their homes year-round.

Thank you, Lowe’s, for supporting critical home repairs in our community!

This veteran homeowner had been living in his home for almost 20 years when he reached out to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland. During our assessment, we discovered the home’s siding, trim, and soffit had significantly deteriorated, allowing water to enter the home and cause additional hidden damage over time.

Through our Critical Repairs Program, supported by , we replaced the failing siding, fascia, soffit, and trim while also repairing water-damaged areas within the home’s walls. These repairs helped restore the home’s safety, stability, and protection from the elements.

Thanks to , , and , this veteran now has a safer and more secure place to call home.

When a disabled veteran and single mother reached out to Habitat, her roof was leaking in several places. With a new child on the way and two others to care for, the repairs were out of reach—and the damage was continuing to grow.

Through Garland Habitat’s Critical Repairs Program, supported by , we replaced the failing roof to make the home safe, dry, and stable once again. Inside, we repaired drywall damaged by the leaks, addressed plumbing and electrical issues, and replaced a defective sliding door—thanks to additional support from the Texas Veterans Commission and VHRM.

With a secure roof overhead, this family can now continue to thrive and focus on building a brighter future grounded in strength and stability.

Thanks to , , , and , this family now has a safe, healthy place to call home.
