A LEVEL 2 BURN BAN is now in effect for Pawnee County Kansas Monday Aug 10, 2026 at 4:00pm until further notice. The Burn Ban will continue until environmental conditions improve closer to the weekend when temperatures lower and humidity rises. Near record high temperatures are expected across much of the state, which will continue to dry fuels and increase their receptiveness to ignition. As a result, we anticipate an environment supportive of above normal fire behavior.

No open burning in Pawnee County of any kind. Critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of winds, low relative humidity, and extremely warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. If you have performed a recent fire, please check for embers or hot coals that can reignite a fire. If you need help extinguishing a recent fire or checking embers, please call Pawnee County Dispatch at 620-285-8545.

Thank You to Innovative Livestock Services Inc. Ward Feed Yard for your continued support!!!

Ward Feed Yard is proud to support the Garfield Fire Department as a sponsor of its Hamburger & Hotdog Feed on Friday, August 15.

Our sponsorship helps make this free-will donation meal possible, giving friends and neighbors an opportunity to come together while supporting the volunteer firefighters who serve the Garfield community.

If you're in the area, stop by the J.A. Haas Building in Larned from 5:00–8:00 p.m. for a great meal, door prizes, and a chance to support your local volunteer fire department.

Thank you to the Garfield Fire Department for your dedication to protecting our communities. We're honored to support your efforts.
