The countdown to Caples Lake is officially ON!

There is a crisp bite in the morning air lately, and that cooler weather is a reminder that fall is nearing and winter is just around the corner. You know what that means: it is almost hardwater season and the count down until January 23 for our upcoming father/son ice fishing trip. We are ready to pack up the auger, load up the sleds, and head up to Caples Lake for some; hopefully, epic trout fishing and unbeatable quality time.There is nothing quite like sitting on a bucket in the middle of a frozen lake, hot thermos in hand, waiting for that first flag to pop or the rod tip to dip.

An evening to honor those who served!

Remember the tradition of dressing in your finest for a military branch ball? This is your opportunity to do it again.

Dust off your suit, display your medals and join us for a distinguished evening honoring the men and women who have served our country. Enjoyed dinner, a special veterans ceremony, dancing photographs, and an evening of fellowship and celebration.

Tickets are $50 per person and include dinner, dancing photos and a commemorative keepsake.

Veterans spouses family members, friends, and community members are all welcome. Join us for a memorable evening of tradition, recognition and celebration as we honor our veterans.

**UPDATE***
Tonight’s concert will not be cancelled unless there is lightning or if the sound technician says it’s unsafe. No decision will be made until late afternoon. We have never had to cancel for rain and don’t intend to today, so pack your jackets and be prepared for the elements and fun!! Thank you for your continued support!!

Registration is open for our upcoming youth coed 1st/2nd grade and 3rd-6th grade girls basketball season!

Whether your child is just starting out or looking to sharpen their skills on the court, we have divisions available:
* Valley Youth GIRLS/COED Basketball 1st/2nd grade (D1)
* Valley Youth GIRLS Basketball 3rd/4th grade (D2)
* Valley Youth GIRLS Basketball 5/6th grade (D3)

Join the Carson Valley Arts Council THIS SATURDAY, August 22, 2026, for a special community workshop at the Douglas County Community Center – CV Health Room!

This special project is funded through the Dust and Wonder Trail with the Nevada Arts Council.

This is your chance to meet the artist, share your ideas, and help shape the vision for our new mural!

We want to hear from YOU! What would you love to see represented in the mural? What people, places, traditions, history, or things make our community special?

Come share your thoughts, meet the artist, and be part of creating something that will represent our community for years to come.
