Between Horses and Humans Empowering Youth Through Horsemanship All activities are offered free to participants. Through the support of our generous donors we ensure no child is excluded.

Between Horses and Humans (BHH) is a non-profit organization teaching leadership through horsemanship to children dealing with difficult life situations and personal challenges. Our program builds leadership and communication skills and assists participants with social, personal and emotional issues. Every amount donated is used exclusively to operate the program. Our classes and workshops are fun and educational. We use a variety of methodologies, combining ground exercises, equine body work and riding, along with workshops and seminars, to accomplish our mission. Have you ever seen magic happen before your eyes? Fear turns to confidence, aggression to patience, timidity to self-esteem, and selfishness to kindness as children and youth participate in our weekly programs or seminars. Leadership, communication skills, trust, courage, and compassion are only a few of the magical things that happen with children who are paired with horses in the Between Horses and Humans programs. Unique in its scope and vision, our program empowers children, building their leadership skills and their self-esteem. We witness children changing - becoming more confident, developing a belief in themselves and their decisions, and glowing with a sense of accomplishment. The magic and love of horses help create in children an inner state of calmness and ease from which they can deal with life’s challenges and questions. At Between Horses and Humans we believe that all children deserve a future with love, joy and hope in it. Time with the horses gives kids opportunities to practice trust, patience, responsibility, and confidence in a setting that feels completely different from everyday life.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out for this year’s Mane Event: Pumpkins & Ponies and helped make the ranch feel so full of life!!

One moment we’re still smiling about: seeing kids who had never pet a horse before and older visitors who hadn’t pet a horse since they were young, all equally excited and moved by the chance to interact with our gentle herd.

Not only was this a fundraiser, but it was also our chance to meet more people from the community and make lasting connections with families that want to enroll their kids in our program and adults that can participate in our upcoming adult offerings. With the support we gained through this event, we can confidently continue the programs and experiences we provide here at Between Horses & Humans.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, families, private donors, corporate sponsors, and everyone who helped bring the day together! A big shout out to Miss Rodeo Nevada McKinna Jackson McKinna Jackson for joining us! And another big thanks to our food and drink supporters:

A very special thank you to our community for showing up and showing out for our very first Fall Fest & The Mane Event. 🐴🍂

What you helped create yesterday was so much more than a successful event. You filled our space with laughter, connection, horses, families, and so much genuine support for the work we get to do here at Between Horses and Humans.

Watching our little corner of the community come together, experience the magic of the horses, learn about what we do, and simply enjoy being here was something I won’t forget. It was a pretty special reminder of why we do all of this in the first place.

Thank you for coming, for supporting, for bringing your families, for cheering us on, and for believing in what we are building. ❤️

This year, families will have the chance to meet Lisette, Rascal, Mari, Tru, Ruby, Sonny, Ashes, and Cowboy during our horse meet & greets.

It’s a fun way for kids and adults alike to spend a little time with the herd, learn their personalities, and get a closer look at the animals at the heart of BHH’s programs.
