A message from our President Dan Hamer..
Once again this community turned up and turned out to support a worthwhile cause! On Saturday November 22nd, our Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley hosted its annual Turkey Bingo event, and what a day the community made it. This event kicks off the holiday season for many people, as is evidenced by the number of repeat patrons we see each and every year. All three session were very well attended, so much so that we unfortunately had to turn folks around at the first and second. We were very pleased to see that many of them returned later for a shot to win a turkey and support our efforts.
Our patrons were not the only supporters of our event. In what has become a tradition, an incredible donor to both our annual turkey and ham bingo events is ABE Printing and Copy Center. ABE contributed all the 135 turkeys awarded to bingo winners, which helps us do more good locally. We cannot thank ABE enough for their ongoing support.
Additionally, our club members frequent and collect items from local businesses, organizations and private donors to award as raffle prizes during each session. The following establishments once again generously donated to our cause:
Alpen Coffee, Bling Dog Coffee, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Chocolate Shoppe, David Walley's Hot Spring Resort, Double J Auto, Douglas County Parks and Recreation, Especially For You, Fresh Ideas, Howliday Inn Pet Resort, Main Street Barbers, Max's Pet Supplies and Gifts, Minden Meat and Deli, Raley's, Salterra at Carson Valley, Schat's Bakery and Restuarant and The Grill Next Door.
Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley donates the proceeds from our fundraisers to organizations and agencies which work on the behalf of children and families locally. If you are interested in serving the community and helping others, please consider dropping by the COD Casino in Minden at 6:30 AM on Thursday mornings to attend our meeting and visit with us. "Serving the Children of the World" is the Kiwanis International motto, and together we can do more.
Gratefulness is the reason for the Thanksgiving season, and on behalf of our club, we are grateful for our community's graciousness, and we wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.
