Founded in 1907 as the National Association of Building Owners and Managers, today’s international organization for building developers, owners, managers, operators, and providers actively and responsibly represents and promotes the interests of the commercial real estate industry. In North America, the Washington, D.C.-based Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International’s 15,000+
members own or manage more than nine (9) billion square feet of commercial properties in North America. In addition to 93 local associations throughout the United States, BOMA International has 14 overseas affiliates in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, and South Africa. BOMA is a primary source of information on office building development, leasing, building operating costs, energy consumption patterns, local and national building codes, legislation, occupancy statistics and technological developments. Throughout BOMA's long history, its goal has always focused on actively and responsibly representing and promoting the interests of the commercial real estate industry through effective leadership and advocacy, through the collection, analysis and dissemination of information, and through professional development.
