You can make these up with items from the Dollar Tree such as gloves, thermal socks, beef sticks, crackers, candy bars, toothpaste, toothbrush, wipes, deodorant, snacks and other items that may help someone who is homeless or in a bad way. It is just a thoughtful, inspiring thing to do.

Thank you to the ones that did this long before us, for being such a giving, loving, caring person! Random acts of kindness take very little to change the life of just one person." 👼

What a truly wonderful idea. Had to share! 👍

One person can help feed many mouths. For the most part, the global food crisis is not a crisis of shortages; it's one of soaring prices. And the result is hundreds of millions of people who are suddenly struggling to feed themselves.

As the crisis strains the resources of humanitarian groups and entire governments, it's hard for individual Americans to know what they can possibly do to alleviate the situation. But there are a few ways that individuals can make a difference in the short term:

Donate money》->
Many relief agencies are seeing budget shortfalls in the millions—if not hundreds of millions—of dollars this year. Many of the largest groups, including Oxfam America, the U.N. World Food Program, and CARE, encourage online donations. Some allow you to select specific projects or efforts.

Support food banks 》->
U.S. food banks are seeing dramatic increases in visitors and shrinking stocks because of reduced contributions. America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest food bank network, features a local food bank locator on its website to guide donors. Some local agencies, such as Detroit's Forgot-ten Harvest, rescue perishable food from supermarkets and restaurants that would otherwise go to waste. They, too, accept monetary donations.

Waste time for a cause 》->
If you can't afford to make donations yourself, a few mouse clicks will instruct others to donate money for you. At freerice.com, visitors can play simple vocabulary games; WFP will donate 20 grains of rice for every correct answer. Another site,thehungersite.com, requires just a click of a button.

Reduce food waste 》->
According to estimates, Americans waste about 100 billion pounds of food annually. Though cutting out waste at home won't directly help feed the hungry elsewhere, Americans can be more conscious about their eating habits. Rather than overbuying, use the money you save to make a donation.

Reward retailers 》->
A number of companies donate money or food to antihunger programs.

Anything you can do to help elevate hunger in the community is greatly appreciated! Give $5 gift cards to the homeless if you don't want to give cash. Your kindness will make someone not as fortune as you feel better.

Food insecurity is harmful to all people, but it is particularly devastating to children. Proper nutrition is critical to a child’s development. Not having enough of the right kinds of food can have serious implications for a child’s physical and mental health, academic achievement and future economic prosperity.

In the United States today, 15 million children face hunger. Consequently, one in five kids are facing greater obstacles to reaching their fullest potential. The future of America lies in our children. When hunger threatens the future of a child, it threatens the future of our nation as well.

So let us give thanks, count our blessings and donate to the fight against hunger in our community.

Are you interested in helping to make sure your fellow man is still eating? Helping to add something to humanity in lean times, when many can become selfish, is highly commendable. Here's how to get started making a difference!

1). Keep a food kit in your car. Most of us don't have constant access to the homeless community. There might be the same person we drive by or pass on the street, but other than that, it's totally random. So be ready to help by keeping a food kit in your car (or mom's!). A gallon-sized resealable bag (or two) with non-perishable items is a great way to always be ready.As for non-perishable items, think the basics. Granola bars, canned fruit or vegetables, peanut butter, maybe a candy bar -- pretty much anything you can open and eat (that can't get smushed, like potato chips).Don't forget pet food! It's estimated that around 10% of homeless people have pets to keep them company. That's 1 out of every 10! Pet food can be just as useful -- if their pets aren't fed, that's one more thing they have to worry about.

2). Have a few gift cards on hand. You know how practically every checkout line nowadays has row upon row of gift cards readily available to inspire that impulse buy? Instead of needlessly spending money, spend it for a good cause! Having a gift card or two is super easy to carry around. Now where to?Keep it simple, like Starbucks, McDonald's, Wal-Mart, or Target. Even $5 would be an amazing gesture. Gift cards are much easier to carry around wherever you go!

3). Donate to a food drive. If there's not one going on at your school or work, find out about what's happening in your community. Some organizations practically have food drives that run all year long. Check your newspaper, local schools, and other news outlets.If you can't find a food drive in your area, there are plenty of other ways to donate food! Contact your local shelters, churches, and coalitions to ask what they need. This is especially useful around the holidays.
