Global Expeditions Philippines B 2013

Global Expeditions Philippines B 2013 Jul 6 – Aug 1, 2013 In the Philippines there’s a garbage dump where each day kids search for food in the trash before burning it to make coal.

This is an area of EXTREME poverty where clothes are stained and torn, and the kids who wear them are dirty and thin. Hundreds of kids here are growing up in the middle of waste, rubbish and debris. This summer you can reach families living in the worst conditions by leading “Sunday School” style programs in the middle of it all! With skits, games, and song time you’ll bring Jesus to the poor! Tak

e a day and help host a Medical Clinic where you’ll assist in with the lines and organize games and events as people wait their turn to be seen by the doctor! WARNING: This project will come face to face with shocking poverty. Some children in the garbage dump are naked, because they have no clothes. If you are looking for ‘regular’ children’s outreach, we recommend Zambia, Romania, or Panama. DO NOT apply for this trip if you are not ready to hug and play with children who will be very dirty.

Missionary War Story:
"Being on this trip has helped me learn about my identity in Christ. God has turned my life upside down. Some of the people that I have met really encourage me to be bold and courageous! I thank God for sending me here for a reason".

Missionary War Story:
"There's so many stories to tell....one of my favorites has been from our 2nd day of ministry. We performed at 2 different sites. Each place touched my heart from the moment we drove in. There were kids all over the place; shirtless boys and raggedy clothed girls. They were all so small. 9 year olds looked like 6 year olds and 13 year olds looked like 7 year olds. They were so excited to see us, full of smiles and joy even for living in such dirty, poverty stricken areas. We danced with the kids, taught them songs, and played games. When it came to the drama, the 'Everything' skit, they were so attentive. We prayed hard and long for the kids and against the enemy. It was just so amazing, being there. I loved every moment of it".

Missionary War Story:
"Yesterday, we were playing and singing with hundreds of kids. At one point, I was sitting with some of them and watching my friends perform the 'Everything' drama. I looked around at the hundreds of sitting children staring, focused at the stage. All at once, during the part of the skit where Jesus steps in and saves the main character, the crowd of children erupted in cheers and shouts of joy; and seeing and hearing that caused me to get goosebumps. Just seeing all those little eyes transfixed on the scene of salvation was one of the best God moments of my life".

All 3 teams visited Smokey Mountan you can look at these pictures and see the poverty but untill you experience it with all of your senses there is no way to really see the desperation that happens in the middle of a big wealthy city. Everything you see is trash , the ground is trash , years and years of dump.
