The Sober Graduation committee is working hard to raise funds to put on a fabulous Grad Night event for the Class of 2020. If you aren’t familiar with Sober Grad it takes place after the graduation ceremony. Graduates are bused to a “secret location” where they eat, play games, win prizes and have fun all night with their classmates.
The committee devotes significant time to fundraising to put on Grad Night in order to keep the event free for all graduating seniors, or at least a very low cost. Our biggest fundraiser, the “Go for the Gold” raffle, brunch and silent auction is happening Sunday, December 8th at 11 am in the GSHS multipurpose room. We greatly need your help to make this fundraiser a success! Here are some things you can do to help:
1. Purchase “Go for the Gold” raffle tickets. The tickets cost $100 and give you an opportunity for a 1 in 100 chance at $4000! The ticket also provides admission for 1 to the brunch/silent auction. If you aren’t able to purchase the $100 ticket you can purchase a brunch/silent auction only ticket for just $20 each. Attending the brunch is a fun community event and we have several great items up for bidding, as well as, Christmas trees and various table centerpieces that will be up for live auction. Tickets are still available at Terry’s Pizzeria, the GSHS school office or you can contact me (information below) for other arrangements.
2. We need your baking skills, or those of your family, friends or students! We include these home baked goods as part of the brunch menu (muffins, breads, sweet rolls, coffee cake, etc.) We would also love baked goods to be included as part of our auctions (both live and silent). Goodies such as pies, cakes and breads, you bake it and we will sell it to help our kids! Donations can be dropped off (sliced and ready to serve or packaged for sale) the morning of the event by 10 am or arrive a little early and bring them to the brunch if you are attending at 11 am.
3. Volunteer your time for set up and clean up of the event. The more people we have, the faster it goes! Set up for the event starts Friday, December 6th at 3 pm and continues through Saturday, December 7th. If you have some time, please contact me and I can give you more specific details. We also need the help of our senior students. The seniors students work as our wait staff during the event. Seniors are needed on Sunday the 8th from approximately 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. It’s a fun senior year experience and is much appreciated by the committee. If your student would like to volunteer please contact me, the activities director at GSHS, Angela Schroeder or Judy Toth GSHS Office.
4. Finally, if you aren’t able to do any of the above but would just like to donate to Sober Grad we have a GoFundMe account (https://www.gofundme.com/f/golden-sierra-high-school-sober-graduation?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet ) or donations can be mailed to the school, attention Sober Grad.
It takes a village to put on “Go for the Gold” and Sober Grad Night. We need your help! If you have any questions please contact me through one of the methods below. Thank you for your support of the GSHS Class of 2020!
