This gift for Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church in Santa Ana was made through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA. Rev. Kiet Anh Ta, pastor, is grateful an OCF donor stepped forward to cover the costs of a much-needed bathroom renovation.

Fun fact: Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church is celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year.

🔔 Part 1: Inside the Crean Tower! You’ve seen it from the freeway, but have you ever wanted a behind the scenes look of this recognizable landmark? OCF’s Anthony Vultaggio and our partner Kristina Kameron got the rare opportunity to play the Arvella Schuller Carillon.

As Charlie Raasch, a Hazel Wright Organist, shared, the bells can be played manually from inside the tower or from the consoles of the cathedral’s great organ. The entire carillon assembly weighs an incredible 42,000 pounds and was lifted into place in 1990 by two cranes working in tandem.

As daylight fades, the Church turns to prayer. The faithful gathered on October 6 at Christ Cathedral in thanksgiving of the beatification of Blessed Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. OCF's Kathleen Hurtt was honored to be there and is pictured with Michael Skillman, newly installed into the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, and Sr. Irene O'Neill of Sisters Rising Worldwide.

The evening included solemn vespers and the blessing of a statue of Blessed Sheen, which was originally part of the Crystal Cathedral collection. The statue is now on display outside the Aboretum for all visitors to enjoy.
