In a bit of a departure from our usual quilt making, for the past several weeks, the Loving Ties team has been crafting crocheted indoor/outdoor flying disk toys to be distributed in August as part of a gift bag project in partnership with Royal Family Kids Camp. The global pandemic has made it impossible for RFKC to host campers this year, so the gift bags are intended as a outreach to youth who are sheltering in their foster homes over the summer. We hope they will bring a bit of fun, and that they will be a tangible representation of the care and love of the Body of Christ to those who receive them. We hope you will pray with us for these young children in the foster care system.

About Loving Ties Prayer Quilt Ministry:

We are a Christian intercessory prayer and outreach ministry serving the Southern California area. Loving Ties provides the gift of prayer combined with the gift of a handmade, tied quilt.

Our mission is to provide a tangible "covering" of prayer which is intended to give the recipient both comfort and an enduring reminder that they are loved by God and His people. This is not merely the physical gift of a quilt, it is also a gift of love and prayer. It is an affirmation of our faith in God's power to comfort, strengthen and heal.

Each Knot Represents a Prayer:

Each quilt is lovingly planned and stitched together with the recipient's preferences in mind. Then we use heavy thread to place ties through all the layers, leaving the ends free to be tied with a square knot. As each knot is tied, we intercede in prayer for the recipient. The ties are what bind the layers of the quilt together, much as prayer binds together the members of Christ's body, the Church! To the recipient, they represent all of the people who have lovingly held them up in prayer.

Tying Knots and Praying:

Loving Ties relies on participating churches and "House Church" groups to pray and tie the quilts. If you are a member or visitor to any of our participating churches, please look for us! Often, we have a table of quilts in a fellowship area where we invite people to stop by before or after services to say a prayer and tie a square knot for our quilt recipients.

Requesting a Prayer Quilt:

If you have a friend or loved one who has an illness or some other life challenge, and you would like to request a quilt for them, you may request one for them though our linked website, by Facebook Messenger, or by filling out the request form in our brochure available at any one of several participating churches in Southern California. Be sure to share the recipient's prayer need and any design preferences such as favorite color or subject that will assist our quilt crafters in personalizing their quilt. It is our preference to hand-deliver the finished quilt to the recipient (or to their sponsor, so she may deliver it) however, we have occasionally shipped quilts outside of our local area on an "as resources are available" basis. There is no charge to request or receive a prayer quilt. Loving Ties is supported by donations from caring individuals and other Christian ministries. Donations may be made through our linked website.

How Can I Become Involved?

Anyone who wants to be involved can participate!

If you would like to join us for a quilting session, we meet twice monthly on a weekday evening and 2 to 4 times a year for longer, Saturday "Quiltathon" sessions. (Please contact us to be put on our email list for specific locations, dates and times.)

During work sessions we need willing hands to...

- Rotary cut fabric
- Machine sew the pieced quilt tops together

Donations are welcome!
- 100% cotton fabric
- Polyester batting
- Colored thread
- If you wish to make a monetary donation, please visit the donation page on our linked website.

Everyone is needed to...

At the Quiltathon, even the most difficult tasks are fun, with a dash of silliness.
