Why does early intervention matter? ๐Ÿ’™

We asked Dr. Jason Schiffman to finish that sentence, and his answer gets right to the heart of why this work matters.

Recognizing changes early creates more opportunities to understand what a young person is experiencing, connect them with the right support, and help them continue moving toward the life they want for themselves. ๐ŸŒฑ

Thatโ€™s what early intervention is all about: not waiting for things to reach a crisis before offering support. ๐ŸŒท Sometimes, noticing sooner can open the door to support sooner. ๐Ÿ’™

Know a young person who may be experiencing changes in their thoughts, perceptions, or behavior? We're here to help youth, families, providers, and community members navigate those next steps. ๐Ÿ’—

There's a lot that happens behind the scenes before a training is hosted, a resource is shared, or a community event comes together. ๐Ÿงก

From planning and collaboration to plenty of conversations (and coffee โ˜•), every day is focused on one goal: helping connect young people and families with support sooner.

Here's a little glimpse into life at TTOC! ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’™ Today is International Youth Day! ๐Ÿ’™

Every young person deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. ๐ŸŒฑ

We believe that one conversation, one trusted adult, and one moment of feeling understood can change the course of a young person's life.

That's why we work alongside educators, providers, families, and community partners to:
โœจ Increase awareness of the early signs of psychosis
๐Ÿค Reduce stigma surrounding mental health
๐ŸŒผ Connect youth to support sooner

Today, we're celebrating the creativity, resilience, and potential of young people everywhere while recommitting ourselves to building communities where they know they don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.

Because every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. ๐Ÿ’™

Happy International Youth Day! ๐ŸŒŽ

A reminder we all need sometimes. ๐Ÿ’™

One of our favorite parts of hosting zine workshops is seeing the messages that emerge! ๐Ÿฅน

Every collage, drawing, and handwritten note tells a different story. Sometimes it's hopeful. Sometimes it's honest. Sometimes it's simply a reminder someone else might need to hear. ๐ŸŽจ

This one stopped us in our tracks.
๐Ÿ’™ You matter.
๐Ÿ’™ You are not alone.

Thank you to the young people who continue to share their creativity, courage, and perspective with our community. We hope this reminder finds whoever needs it today!

๐Ÿ“šโœจ Back-to-school season is here!

When kids get home from school, one of the first questions we often ask is, "How was your day?" But after a long day, that question can be hard to answer.

Sometimes, a different question can open the door to a more meaningful conversation. ๐Ÿ’™

Try asking:
๐ŸŒผ What made you smile today?
๐ŸŒผ Was there anything that felt overwhelming?
๐ŸŒผ Did you feel like yourself today?
๐ŸŒผ What's something you're looking forward to tomorrow?

There isn't a perfect script for checking in with a young person. What matters most is creating space for honest conversations and letting them know you're there to listen.

As we head into a new school year, let's remember that small moments of connection can make a big difference.

Save this post for later or share it with a parent, caregiver, teacher, or someone who works with youth. ๐Ÿ’›

โ€œEveryone fits in somewhere.โ€ ๐Ÿ’™

This beautiful message came from a recent Zine Workshop we hosted in partnership with Thomas House Family Shelter. ๐Ÿค

Thomas House Family Shelter provides safe housing and supportive services for families experiencing homelessness, helping parents and children build stability, confidence, and hope for the future. ๐Ÿงก Weโ€™re honored to partner with organizations that care deeply for the families they serve!

Our Zine Initiative gives young people the opportunity to express themselves creatively while opening the door to conversations about mental health, belonging, and emotional well-being. ๐ŸŽจ Sometimes a drawing or a single sentence can communicate what feels difficult to say out loud. ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ

Thank you, Thomas House Family Shelter, for welcoming us into your community and for the incredible work you do to support children and families every day. ๐Ÿ’™

Every new year (fiscal year) brings a new opportunity to grow our impact. ๐Ÿ’™

As we look ahead, weโ€™re excited to continue building meaningful connections throughout Orange County by:

โœจ Expanding our no-cost trainings for providers and professionals.
โœจ Bringing our Zine Initiative to even more schools and community organizations.
โœจ Connecting with more youth and families through community events and resource fairs.

Every training, workshop, and conversation helps us move closer to a community where young people experiencing early signs of psychosis are recognized sooner, supported earlier, and connected with the care they deserve. ๐Ÿงก

Thank you to every partner, provider, educator, family, and community member who makes this work possible. We canโ€™t wait to continue growing together. ๐ŸŒฑ

Every training is another step toward earlier recognition, stronger support, and better outcomes for youth and families. ๐Ÿ’™

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent training with Dr. Jason Schiffman, Ph.D., Screening, Assessment, and Treatment Considerations for People of Color at Clinical High Risk for Psychosis.

Together, we explored practical strategies for culturally responsive screening, assessment, and treatment, while taking a closer look at the unique considerations that can help improve outcomes for youth from historically underserved communities.

When providers, educators, and community partners continue learning, theyโ€™re better equipped to recognize concerns sooner, provide culturally informed care, and connect young people with the right resources. โœจ

Weโ€™re grateful to everyone who continues to invest their time in strengthening mental health care throughout our community.

Missed this training? Donโ€™t worry! More no-cost learning opportunities are on the way. Stay connected through our newsletter and follow along here for upcoming trainings, resources, and community updates. ๐Ÿ’™
