⚠️ Community Warning for Missouri Pet Owners ⚠️

We want to make our community aware of a very serious and often deadly disease affecting cats in Missouri called Bobcat Fever (also known as Cytauxzoonosis). Over the past couple months, we have personally dealt with and become aware of multiple cases throughout Missouri, including right here in our immediate area.

Bobcat Fever is spread through tick bites and can affect both outdoor cats and cats with limited outdoor exposure. Symptoms often come on fast and may include:

• High fever
• Lethargy or sudden weakness
• Loss of appetite
• Difficulty breathing
• Pale or yellow gums
• Hiding or sudden behavioral changes

This disease progresses rapidly and can become fatal in a very short time if treatment is not started immediately.

Please make sure your cats are on effective flea and tick prevention, check pets regularly for ticks, and seek veterinary care right away if your cat seems “off” or suddenly becomes ill.

BETTER YET KEEP THEM INSIDE AND SAFE!

We are sharing this because we care deeply about the animals in our community, and right now this is something every cat owner in Missouri should be paying attention to.

So FB wants me to choose a charity for my birthday. It's not part of their list but I choose Harley's Place Animal Rescue. We lost almost $500 on calendars this year and that was our only fundraiser. If you did buy a calendar, we appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts but we only clear about $3 a calendar. Hay was $8000 again this year, horse medications are $300 a month. Food is $700 a month. It's time for vaccinations again...we couldn't afford them last year because we had to put up fences so our neighbors wouldn't kill our cows for getting in his bean field. Now we're having to put up more fencing to keep Trouble separated from the other animals. Yes I do work part time but it's not even close to being enough so if you could find it in your hearts to help support our babies, it would mean do much! Venmo or PayPal are both [email protected]. CAT STORY. So this is Loki's story (formerly known as Willow). I already told you that when Loki found us he was so starved we weren't sure he was going to make it. He moved into the house and was just as sweet as a cat could be. We could tell he'd been neutered and that he had definitely been someone's pet. We took him to the vet and sure enough, he was chipped. His current owner, who lives about 8 miles from us, called and said his previous owner had passed away and his family inherited Loki abd 2 of his sisters. He put them in the garage to get them acclimated, which the 2 girls did right away. Loki, however, wouldn't have anything to do with anybody. Then, after about 3 weeks, they opened the garage door and Loki escaped. He'd been gone about 6 weeks before he found us. His owner was just flabbergasted at his behavior since he's been with us and said that we should probably keep him since it's pretty obvious he wants to be here.

I swear our animals send out signals saying "Suckers live here!"
