Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
These have been my favorite scriptures for my life for so many years. I know to trust the Lord, with all of my heart.... and that my understanding isnt going to get it! I need Gods understanding of the thing! I need to see in though Gods eyes and not the eyes of my own flesh. I know the word tells me to walk in the Spirit and not to walk in the ways of my flesh. So I acknowledge Him. I need to to direct my path. He sees what lays ahead of me in all of my life. He knows the path I need to take and all I have to do is trust Him and acknowledge Him.
The word TRUST in the Hebrew of this scripture means ==בָּטַח
bâṭach
baw-takh'
A primitive root; properly to hie for refuge (but not so precipitately as H2620); figuratively to trust, be confident or sure: - be bold (confident, secure, sure), careless (one, woman), put confidence, (make to) hope, (put, make to) trust.
Trust. We all believe we are trusting God. And we are. But there are greater depths that we can have in that trust. I have seen God do so many things.. raise the dead, provision out of no where... I have seen Him heal so many people with my own eyes, encluding myself. I do trust Him... I can see where I need more trust.. and my brother or sister.. you do too. We have got to fully trust Him. We have to believe what the word says because these are His words, not mans word.
The words own understanding ==בִּינָה
bı̂ynâh
bee-naw'
From H995; understanding: - knowledge, meaning, X perfectly, understanding, wisdom.
Ok this says understanding knowledge perfectly, understanding and even wisdom. And the verse this came from says leand NOT!!! unto your own understanding!!
Now lets look at verse 6. In this verse the word acknowledge == יָדַע
yâda‛
yaw-dah'
A primitive root; to know (properly to ascertain by seeing); used in a great variety of senses, figuratively, literally, euphemistically and inferentially (including observation, care, recognition; and causatively instruction, designation, punishment, etc.): - acknowledge, acquaintance (-ted with), advise, answer, appoint, assuredly, be aware, [un-] awares, can [-not], certainly, for a certainty, comprehend, consider, X could they, cunning, declare, be diligent, (can, cause to) discern, discover, endued with, familiar friend, famous, feel, can have, be [ig-] norant, instruct, kinsfolk, kinsman, (cause to, let, make) know, (come to give, have, take) knowledge, have [knowledge], (be, make, make to be, make self) known, + be learned, + lie by man, mark, perceive, privy to, X prognosticator, regard, have respect, skilful, shew, can (man of) skill, be sure, of a surety, teach, (can) tell, understand, have [understanding], X will be, wist, wit, wot.
Alot of meaning to that one word Acknowldge. And this is how the Hebrew works. The words have much more depth then the english words. This is why I do this. I want to understand what is being said exactly so I have to know the meaning of the words in the langue is was writen and spoken.
Now on to the word direct == יָשַׁר
yâshar
yaw-shar'
A primitive root; to be straight or even; figuratively to be (causatively to make) right, pleasant, prosperous: - direct, fit, seem good (meet), + please (well), be (esteem, go) right (on), bring (look, make, take the) straight (way), be upright (-ly).
You see when we allow the Lord to direct our paths look what happens..... He makes us to walk right, to walk pleasant and prospersous........ feet, good, please, exteem, go right... stright and upright. The Joy of the Lord is our strenght!!!!
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will act:
Commit your way to the Lord – trust in him and he will act! The proof that we are trusting in God to act is that, if He doesn’t act, we will fall flat on our faces! What have you done in the last week, or last month, or last year, which has depended for success or failure on the intervention of Almighty God? What have you done where the outcome would have been different depending on whether God actually existed or not?
Jeremiah 9: 23 This is what the LORD says:
“Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,
24 but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
We are trusting God with all our hearts when the only thing we have to boast about is not our wisdom or our strength or our riches, but simply that we know God and He knows us! When we are delighting ourselves in the Lord and we receive the desires of our hearts because receiving his blessing and approval is absolutely the only thing in the world that matters to us.
We need to ask God to guide us – not just go on doing what seems best in our own eyes!
