Monitor the weather in your city. Note: We have canceled tomorrow's Good Morning Mainland meeting.

Per the city's announcement, "The latest forecasts the city has received suggest that the worst weather conditions are expected Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. During that time, Galveston could receive up to 2” of rain and winds up to 40 mph."

City of Galveston weather update Tuesday, June 16 at 11 a.m.

The City of Galveston Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor a series of storms that are expected to bring gusty winds and rainfall to the area this week.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking Potential Tropical Cyclone One as it moves northeast along the Gulf coast and issued a tropical storm watch for the area including Galveston.

The latest forecasts the city has received suggest that the worst weather conditions are expected Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. During that time, Galveston could receive up to 2” of rain and winds up to 40 mph.

The City’s Office of Emergency Management has been in communication with the National Weather Service and other local preparedness partners to stay informed and prepare for severe weather conditions.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch on Monday for Galveston County, and the city remains under that flood watch through Thursday morning.

Residents should expect minor coastal flooding, especially when heavy rain and high tides coincide, and the high potential for street flooding. We recommend collecting anything from your property now that could blow into the street and impede water flow.

Avoid unnecessary travel during midday Wednesday and use caution when driving. If you see standing water in the roadway, take an alternative route.

The City of Galveston will continue providing updates throughout the week.

He started every morning asking, 'Did we beat Tilman yesterday?' His competitive drive was legendary, always aiming for better occupancy or rates. But beneath that, he was incredibly generous, secretly paying for college and supporting others.

Galveston attracts cruise passengers who then choose hotels for pre- and post-cruise stays. Hotels compete for this business, as cruise ships are not seen as competitors but as a complementary travel option.
