Barbara Sanderson, executive director of Parks, Recreation and Community Outreach, is recognized Thursday by City Council for her 35 years of service to the city. Sanderson is retiring in June.

Congratulations to the members of the Galveston Ball High Lady Tornadoes softball team who have signed National Letters of Intent to play softball at the collegiate level. These young women have practiced hard to compete at the next level. Congratulations from the Galveston Kiwanis Club, which they attended the meeting on April 29th.

In the 1950’s though the 1980’s the Galveston Kiwanis Club had gum ball machines in several area banks. The project ran its course and were removed the machines from all local. Garry Rogers found one, restored it and donated the proceeds to the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund. Thank you Garry!
