🎻 This is Day One. We perform in less than a week. 🎭

One of the things that makes an Act 3 Galveston production a little different is our rehearsal process: we do all of this in ONE WEEK.

Our cast comes together for the first time on Sunday. We sit down, meet one another, and read the entire show together for the first time. Then we get up and get to work.

For Rebel Hearts, that also means learning the traditional Irish music woven throughout the show. Here’s a little peek at our cast on that very first day, beginning to learn “Whack Fol the Diddle.” 🎻🎶

By Saturday night, this cast and our musicians will be performing a full original play complete with live music, dance, and storytelling for an audience.

It takes an incredible amount of skill, preparation, trust, and collaboration from everyone involved to bring a production together on this timeline. It's part of what makes our concert presentations so special.

Due to a change in casting, the role originally to be played by Jeffrey Slater will now be performed by one of our OG Company Members, Elijah Barrie!

We're thrilled to welcome Elijah back to the ACT 3 Galveston stage. His talent, heart, and history with our company make this an exciting homecoming, and we can't wait for audiences to see him in Rebel Hearts.

We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to Jeffrey for his time with the production and wish him all the best.

Have you ever wondered why our actors perform with scripts in hand?

At Act 3 Galveston, it's a deliberate artistic choice not a compromise.

Our concert presentation format puts the spotlight where we believe it belongs: on the story, the music, and the performances. Without elaborate sets, costumes, props, or months of rehearsal, audiences experience the heart of each piece in a fresh and powerful way.

With just one week of rehearsal, we're able to bring together exceptional artists from Galveston and beyond, produce a more robust season, and share a wider range of classic, contemporary, and original works with our community.

Concert presentations also create more opportunities to connect with our audiences through pre-show mixers and post-show talkbacks because we believe theatre is a shared experience, not just a performance.

This approach is central to our mission and allows us to present more stories while celebrating the power of live performance and the artistry of our actors.
