When you arrive at MarMo, enter through the main building doors (to the left of the Cafe), go to the left of the lobby for the stairs, then we’ll be at a table or couches upstairs. If the doors are locked when you arrive, you’re welcome to have the event on the outdoor patio.

Remember: all ASL users welcome. Fluency is not required but some prior knowledge of ASL is necessary as it will be the primary language used for the night.

It was brought to my attention that the next coffee chat on Sunday, February 8 is also Super Bowl Sunday…and the first weekend of Mardi Gras. Needless to say, I’m gonna go ahead and cancel February’s coffee chat and we’ll pick it back up in March.

Saturday, January 10 @ 6-9 PM. MarMo Plaza second floor lounge. Feel free to grab food and drinks at the MarMo Cafe and bring them up with you! Parking on the street is free after 6 PM.

All events will be held on the second floor lounge area at MarMo Plaza (2121 Market St) in the downtown/Strand area of Galveston from 6-9 PM.

Parking is always free after 6 PM. There is a cafe in the MarMo Plaza where you can get food and drinks and enjoy them during the coffee chat.

All ASL users and learners are welcome! This is a Deaf event so please be respectful and use ASL as your primary means of communication. These events are a great way to immerse yourself in the language and really learn and socialize in a relaxed environment. Feel free to bring games and any other activities that we can enjoy as a group.

This post will be updated as needed for any changes throughout the year.

We’re finally here at the end of the year! Oh, how time has flown!

Join us next Saturday in celebrating Christmas, friends, and the new year! Bring some fun, holiday-themed games, your winter movie recommendations, or just your ASL-loving self!

PLEASE NOTICE: the evening of Saturday, December 13 will be the monthly Art Walk in The Strand area of Galveston. Parking will be scarce and MarMo Plaza is going to be very busy. We will still plan to meet in the lounge area of the second floor, but if that proves to be too crowded, we will move to conference room #206 (also on the second floor).

We’re ready for fall!! 🥵🍂

Come join us next week on Thursday, October 9 from 6-9 PM at MarMo Plaza. I want to start teaching themed signs every month for those that are new to ASL and those that want to continue learning. This month we’re gonna do Halloween-related signs…duh!! 🎃👻🦇 So come with a mental list of signs for costumes, scary stories, and haunted history you want to learn!

All ASL users welcome, but please remember this is a Deaf event so using ASL as your primary means of communication is essential.
