Sea Star Base Galveston is a youth-based non-profit organization providing outstanding marine and aquatic programs where youth, persons with disabilities, and the underserved can learn teamwork and leadership skills, self-reliance and confidence, maritime career pathways, and independence of mind, body, and spirit. The organization was founded by Captain Charles and Rosemary Doolin whose original idea to build a modest sailing center, expanded to our current LEED Certified Platinum 30,000 square foot facility on 10-acres of naturally xeriscaped property. It includes an event center, outdoor chapel, and amphitheater, commercial-grade kitchen, furnished dormitory rooms able to accommodate approximately 200 guests, swimming pool, and state-of-the-art marina where the SSBG fleet is docked, including the 110-ft BaySmart Express floating classroom.
