Galveston Municipal Police Association GMPA was formed to represent the interests and concerns of police officers within the Galveston Police Department.

This page does not represent or speak on behalf of the Galveston Police Department or the City Of Galveston. Currently, GMPA represents approximately 300 members of the Galveston Police Department in matters of collective bargaining, discipline, grievances and community relations. They also provide activities for members and their families and raise funds for local charities. In addition, GMPA is

active in the local political arena, advocating on behalf of law enforcement and employee rights to best protect all Galveston residents.

- The attorney who “performed” in front of the camera at city hall yesterday knows a lot of facts that he’s not telling the public. Why? Because they don’t fit his narrative. You can’t speak of transparency and not be transparent yourself.
- We are completely confident that our member will be cleared of any and all wrong doing. He is not only a great officer, he’s a great man as well.
- Lastly, what we’d like to make most clear, is that GMPA stands behind ALL of our members. We don’t stop supporting our members because of public narrative, public perception, or based off of what some second rate attorney screams into a camera.

- Merit based hiring and promotions. None of the good ole boy BS or promotions based off of what someone did for an elected Sheriff’s campaigns.
- Due process in disciplinary procedures. No worrying about being fired because the Sheriff woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
- The ability to arbitrate any discipline to an unbiased third party. Your attorney matters and can truly save your job in a civil service agency.

Collective bargaining

- Raises are negotiated and binding by contract.
- Grievance procedures are written in contract and can’t change on a case by case basis.
- Promotions and advancements are tested for and contractually locked in. No need to worry about someone coming in from an outside agency on Monday and being your boss on Tuesday.
