We invite you to join us for another "Nina Moment" at the upcoming Christina Sullivan Foundation Sibling Social.

This special night is a fun, supportive gathering designed specifically for children who have a brother or sister with special needs. It provides these wonderful kids with a unique opportunity to meet peers who share similar life experiences, express their feelings in a safe and welcoming space, and—most importantly—be the main focus of attention.


⛑️Daria, a 3rd year School Of Medicine Student with experience in social emotional settings. Brings compassion and understanding to the gathering beginning with:

🦋Core Elements of a Sibling SocialIcebreakers and Fun Games:
Activities start with low-pressure, high-energy games so kids can laugh, relax, and make friends quickly.

🦋Peer Connection Circles: Guided, age-appropriate chats let children share what is hard and what is great about their family life.

🦋Creative Expression:
Arts, crafts, or journaling give kids a quiet way to process complex emotions like pride, frustration, or guilt.

🦋Unfocused Play:
Pure recreation time where no one has to caretake, explain a diagnosis, or worry about behavior.

🌈Why These Events Matter
Reduces Isolation:
Kids realize they are not the only ones growing up in a special needs household.
🌈Validates Big Feelings:
They learn that feeling angry, sad, or left out sometimes is completely normal.

Our Texas A& M Buddies will be waiting for you at Nina's Creative Workshop, and we can't wait to create something beautiful together for Nina's Kindness Day. Get ready for a fun-filled morning of painting and creating Nina's Special Rocks on Saturday, Saturday, August 22nd, from 9:30 am to 1 pm.

Nina's Kindness Day celebrates the wonderful power of doing good deeds, sharing empathy, and spreading love and joy to others. We would love to have you join us for this special day!

Another Nina Moment…Please join me in welcoming Mya to the Christina Sullivan Foundation Team!

Mya is a student that joins us from the University of North Texas, bringing a strong skill set and a dedicated passion for child development. Her internship referral comes from our Co-Director of Community Engagement, Jennifer Anderson.

Mya has already met and worked with Elizabeth, Samantha, and Craig. During her internship, she will be a part of the Christina Sullivan Foundation Advisory Working Board Committee.

🦋Another Nina Moment…

I am pleased to share an update from Week 8 of the Christina Sullivan Foundation’s Camp PossAbilities adaptive fishing program, held at the Texas A&M University at Galveston campus.

This past Saturday, our participants received a special visit from Colonel Michael Fossum, a veteran astronaut who served as the Commander of the International Space Station and now leads the Texas A&M Galveston campus. Colonel Fossum shared inspiring stories from his career with the Air Force and NASA, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and encouraging everyone to "dream big and aim high." He also presented the anglers with special mementos to commemorate the day.

During the event, our participants received their Certificates of Completion for the eight-week adaptive curriculum developed by the Christina Sullivan Foundation and taught by Fishing Futures.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who made this camp possible, including:

- Terry and Jennifer with Fishing Futures
- Volunteers from Texas Parks & Wildlife
- Buddy Volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, UTMB students, and community members

Each volunteer was awarded a medal in recognition of their meaningful contributions to our community. Thank you to all who support our mission of bringing hope and inclusion to individuals with differing abilities and their families.

All because she lived… she continues to watch over her CSF Family… a yellow butterfly appeared with black rim around her wings. All the participants “Did you see Nina?” Always…
