Better Parks for Galveston

Better Parks for Galveston Better Parks for Galveston exists for the purposes of the promotion and improvement of parks and recreation facilities in the city of Galveston, Texas.

Current Board focus:
Jones Park and Shield Park Renovations - Jones Park located at 71st Street & Jones Drive is a large area with play structures, shade picnic areas, and lots of green space that is prone to flooding. Shield Park located at 33rd Street & Church is a park with basketball courts and picnic areas that are in need of repair. Both of these parks have plenty of potential for what our

community can do when we work together! We have made these parks our priority for renovations with the help of Barbara & Dominick Sasser, UTSA School of Architecture, Vision Galveston, the city's Parks & Recreation Department, and generous sponsors! Art in the Parks - We have now sponsored 3 sea turtle sculptures as part of the Turtles About Town Project. BPG sponsored a mural at Lasker Pool that pays tribute to the supporters of the pool project. We are always looking for artists and projects to enhance our city parks. Contact us if you have any suggestions. The Better Parks for Galveston is a public, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the City of Galveston Parks and Recreation, parks and programs. The organization maintains a 501(C) (3) status and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
