Thank you so much to Gulf Coast Fiberglass, Surf Styles, and Texas City Feed & Supply for providing this much needed food donation! Thank you to Billy Ray Wagner who put out the call for pet food donations for the shelter, and to the gentlemen who braved the soupy heat to deliver them to us. It truly takes a village, and we are proud to be part of this community!

The countdown to this year's Heroes & Hounds calendar has begun!

Over the next several weeks, we'll be introducing the incredible firefighters who have volunteered their time, their hearts, and maybe a little dignity (depending on the questions we ask 😏) to help shelter pets find loving homes and raise critical funds for the animals of Galveston Island Humane Society

Jake, 2yo plotthound mix has been with us 186 days. He loves people, loves going on outings, and is a huge fan of rope toys. We hope this is a short-lived series (which means he'll have found a home)

Some dogs make an entrance, and Black Lotus certainly did. 🖤

This 2-year-old Black Lab was chauffeured to the shelter by a Galveston police officer who described her as nothing but sweet. In fact, when offered a ride, Black Lotus hopped right into the back of the cruiser without a second thought. No fuss, no hesitation, just happy to make a new friend!

That pretty much sums her up.

Friendly, affectionate, goofy, and playful, Black Lotus has never met a stranger. She's the kind of dog who greets everyone like an old friend and is always ready for an adventure. She walks nicely on leash, loves spending time with people, and keeps us smiling with her fun-loving personality.

As one of our newest shelter residents, Black Lotus is hoping her stay here will be a short one. She's ready to trade her kennel for a couch, her shelter routine for a family of her own, and her temporary address for a forever home.
