Meet the GIHS Pets of The Week, Gollum and Ramesses!

Meet Gollum! Unlike his namesake, this precious boy isn't interested in rings or riddles. He's after something much more valuable: a family to call his own!

At just 1 year old, Gollum is a sweet, affectionate boy with so much love to give. He also happens to be FeLV-positive, which means finding his forever home might take a little extra help.

So, what does FeLV mean?

Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a virus that affects a cat's immune system. While it can be passed between cats through close contact, it cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs. FeLV-positive cats can still enjoy happy, loving lives, though they may need a little extra attention to their health.

Gollum would do best as an indoor-only cat, either as your one-and-only feline companion or with other FeLV-positive cats, with guidance from your veterinarian.

His diagnosis is just one part of his story. It doesn't change how much he loves, how sweet he is, or how deserving he is of a home.

Gollum isn't asking for forever. He's just asking for someone to make every day count.

Meet Ramesses!

He may be named after an Egyptian pharaoh, but 1-year-old Ramesses isn't looking for a kingdom to rule. He's just looking for a backyard to play in and some friends to share it with!

This handsome Shepherd mix is a fun-loving, friendly guy who believes life is better with toys, walks, and plenty of sunshine. Whether he's making new friends, chasing his favorite toy, or soaking up some rays, Ramesses knows how to make the most of every day.

No pyramids or palaces required. Just a loving home, a little room to play, and someone to share his adventures with!

Little cats with big cat names, meet Puma, Lion, Lynx, and Jaguar!

These 4-month-old litter mates are ready to explore the domestic jungle known as home. They're currently our longest stay cats but only recently became available after recouping from life in the (urban) wild.

✨Puma (orange) is an affectionate young man who will gladly and unashamedly push his siblings aside to be front and center for attention.

✨Lynx (tuxedo) is curious but cautious. He's okay with not being the center of attention but probably wouldn't mind it from time to time.

✨We chalk the worried expression on Lion's (black cat) face to being the big sister. It's a big responsibility after all, and she looks forward to the day when they're all in homes and she no longer has to worry.

✨Jaguar (tabby) boasts both beautiful markings and being the Elizabeth Bennet of the bunch (bonus points if you know). Outgoing and steadfastly independent, Jaguar still yearns for a once-in-a-lifetime love.

They're all FIV and FELV negative, litter box trained, and friendly!

And then there were three!

Our foster family is getting a little smaller, and we couldn't be happier about it!

With fosters Stormy and Goose officially adopted, we're down to just THREE dogs currently in foster care! 🎉

Ella, Angus, and Bo

If your love language is quality time or physical touch, look no further than Ella, because she provides it in surplus! Much like a pizza roll, Ella needs a little time to warm up. But once she does, she's all lap naps and cuddles!

The cherry on top? Ella is heartworm negative, housetrained, and dog AND cat friendly!

At just 1 year old, Angus is a man of simple pleasures: long walks, playtime, sleeping with his head dangling off the bed, and watching TV from the VERY front row. And by front row, we mean practically inside the television.

Angus celebrated his first birthday with us at GIHS, but he's hoping his next one comes with a family of his own (and a TV with an unobstructed view). He's already housetrained and is heartworm negative!

At this point, BO is practically a local celebrity! He's made countless social media appearances, and our friends at Rita's even rolled out the red carpet with a meet & greet (and pup cups!) just for him. That's how many people are rooting for this sweet guy to find his happy ending!

At 12 years young, BO still has plenty of pep in his step and a whole lot of love left to give. He's just looking for someone willing to let him be the star of the show, preferably as the one and only furry child in the family.

BO has a whole community cheering him on. Now he just needs someone to take him home.

Welcome back to another round of Happy Tails!
Or if this is your first time here, welcome!

Today we hear from the families of Bourbon, Lucy, Pichou, and Sandy.
While Bourbon and Pichou were adopted more recently, Lucy and Sandy (now Sagwa) were adopted several months ago, but all four sound like they are integrating and have integrated well!

We love seeing our former pets thriving! Thank you to the families who gave these pets in need their fur-ever homes!

Welcome back to Whisker Wednesday! 🐱✨

Meet Jonah, Pam, Peter, and Rickie

We can only assume 9-month-old Jonah's expression is the same one the other Jonah made when he saw the whale coming.

Our Jonah is a handsome young guy with big golden eyes, an expressive face, and plenty of personality. As a youngster, he has lots of playing, growing, and adventures ahead of him. Preferably none involving whales.

If there were an award for Most Chill Cat, Pam would win it and then probably take a nap on the trophy. 🏆

Pam's favorite activities include lounging, relaxing, and receiving a good butt scratch. She keeps things pretty low-key here, but with a home of her own and more room to explore, we have a feeling there's even more Pam waiting to come out. For now? She's booked and busy doing absolutely nothing.

Peter has a big name and plenty of time to decide what kind of Peter he'll be. Peter Pan? Jackson? Dinklage? St. Peter? The possibilities are endless.

At just 4 months old, he's still figuring out who he is and how this whole "world" thing works. Peter's just hoping to find a loving family willing to come along for the adventure.

The fun thing about adopting a 3-month-old kitten? You get to watch her personality bloom. The other fun thing? You get to make up her backstory.

Was she rescued from a burning yacht off the coast of Monaco, or after accidentally stowing away on a sh*****ng boat? Who knows? And whatever you come up with, it's not like she'll deny it because, well... she's a cat. Whatever the case, Rickie's real story is only beginning, and she's looking for a family to help her write it!
