Black Rail Habitat Restoration

A two-hour hands-on conservation program at the Artist Boat Coastal Heritage Preserve focused on cutting back vegetation to improve coastal marsh habitat and access for Black Rail surveys. Participants will learn about Black Rail habitat, practice safe vegetation removal, and help support ongoing coastal restoration and wildlife monitoring.

New this Fall!! The Art of Birding with Artist Boat
October 11, October 25, December 5, December 19

Join Artist Boat to learn the basics of birding while exploring the Coastal Heritage Preserve. Participants will practice identifying birds by sight and sound and discover the importance of protecting healthy coastal ecosystems for birds and other wildlife. This activity is perfect for the new birder and those that want to share birding with the next generation. Ages 5- 105 are welcome.

What a wonderful evening celebrating the ribbon cuttings of seven beautiful acrylic murals created by students participating in our after-school and summer residency programs. We are so grateful to Urban Strategies for entrusting us with the delivery of this life-changing program and for supporting our efforts to increase art and science literacy among youth in our community. CALLING ALL NATURE LOVING TEACHERS!
Spring will be here before we know it! Get your classroom outside for an Hands On habitat restoration adventure! Help propagate and plant 10,000 native coastal prairie plants in the ground and help with our ongoing stewardship of the Preserve.
Students will learn about the importance of wetland systems, applied conservation science, native plant species, and the wildlife such habitat support! Let the knowledge take root and benefit all species for generations to come!
