We’re at Precinct 4 with the Harris County Department of Education celebrating City Connections Summer Enrichment Programs! Artist Boat received three grants that allowed us to provide meaningful summer programming at multiple sites across Harris County. These programs are so important. 40% of families are unable to afford summer camps and enrichment programs, which average $87 per day. We’re celebrating our 23rd year as part of CASE for Kids! We’re grateful to everyone who helps make these opportunities possible for our young people.

The Art League of Baytown has an exceptional art gallery and center where artwork by local members is on display for sale. We also hold art shows/competitions, classes and workshops and a summer art camp. Our venue is also available for rent.

It’s time for migration again!

Migratory birds are traveling again! Help protect our feathered friends from August 15-November 30 by:
• Turning off unnecessary lights after 11 PM
• Using motion sensors or dimmers for outdoor lighting
• Choosing fully shielded fixtures that point light downward
• Swapping bright white bulbs for warm, bird-friendly lighting

A darker night sky keeps birds safe and reduces light pollution for everyone. Let’s work together to make migration safer year-round.

Artist Boat will be at the Jack Johnson concert on August 28 with other nonprofits who do great environmental work in our region. We are so excited to be with Jack again during a concert tour. This will be our 4th time! His foundation the Ohana Foundation is donating matching dollars for every dollar donated up to $2,500 during this time. Be a part of celebrating his legacy of music and love the ocean with us. Make a donation under annual appeal, and put in honor of Jack Johnson in the drop down online at artistboat.org or on the check mailed to 13330 Settegast Road, Galveston Texas 77554. In total this will raise $5,000 to help Artist Boat’s programming serving thousands of youth through our Eco-Art Kayak Adventure program. Kids learn to paddle and make plein air watercolors and explore the bay. And when you ask them what is a watershed, estuary, blue carbon, brackish water, and more - they can tell you!

We are very proud to be a part of this and very proud of Jack. He was on SNL and in the NY Times in the last weeks! The new vibe is Jackmaxing! Enjoy your weekend by Jackmaxing and take a few moments to help double your money.
