Look at our garden now! What a transformation.
It is amazing what you can accomplish with a chainsaw, w**d eater, and a handful of volunteers. Behind the 1847 Powhatan House at 35th Street and Avenue O, underneath the overgrown trees, w**ds, and brush were two existing raised beds. We started around 11 am and by 2 pm, the transformation was complete with newly planted tomato, pepper, squash, and mint plants.
At our meeting last Thursday, The Galveston Garden Club gave away over 120 vegetable plants - tomatoes, peppers, herbs, squash, and more. One aspect of the Galveston Garden Club's mission is to inspire a love of gardening. Let's keep growing, Galveston.
