Look at our garden now! What a transformation.

It is amazing what you can accomplish with a chainsaw, w**d eater, and a handful of volunteers. Behind the 1847 Powhatan House at 35th Street and Avenue O, underneath the overgrown trees, w**ds, and brush were two existing raised beds. We started around 11 am and by 2 pm, the transformation was complete with newly planted tomato, pepper, squash, and mint plants.

At our meeting last Thursday, The Galveston Garden Club gave away over 120 vegetable plants - tomatoes, peppers, herbs, squash, and more. One aspect of the Galveston Garden Club's mission is to inspire a love of gardening. Let's keep growing, Galveston.

Come and explore the fascinating world of pollinators and learn how to create a pollinator garden in your yard. Master Gardner Phyllis Koenig will be our guest speaker.

When: Thursday, February 13, 2025
Time: Refreshments served at 5:30 pm; Discussion begins at 6 pm.

Did you know? At least one out of every three bites you eat exists because of the efforts of pollinators, including many fruits, vegetables, and seeds. Pollinators not only are necessary for our own food but support the food and habitat of animals.

As always, Galveston Garden Club events are open to the public and free to attend. Hope to see you there.
