National Junior High School Finals Rodeo - Gallup, New Mexico

National Junior High School Finals Rodeo - Gallup, New Mexico Today, all 47 states and provinces that belong to the NHSRA also produce a Junior High Division as well, with over 2,500 members in total now competing.

Created in 2004, the NHSRA Junior High Division was established to bring the excitement of the sport to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and to serve as a feeder system into the high school ranks of the Association. Junior High Division students compete in a variety of events, including Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying, Breakaway Roping, Tie-Down Roping, Chute Do***ng, Team Roping, Ribbon Roping,

and Junior Bull Riding. Each summer, the "best of the best" from each state and province qualify for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo. Approximately 900 competitors show off their talents in the event and compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes. Since the first Junior High Finals was held in 2005, Gallup, New Mexico has served as the host site.

Glad to see all the new likes on this Face Book Page. Rest assured that Gallup new Mexico Misses all of you. What a great bunch of people, and a Really great bunch of Jr. High Athletes. One of these days we are have to have the opportunity to host the finals again, and we look forward to that day.

Hope everyone made it home safe and sound. We want to thank all the families that made Gallup their home for a couple weeks. You really leave a big impression.
The local businesses constantly tell me how polite and nice these kids are. So thank all of you and hope to see you back next year with NO WIND.

For those New Mexico Kids that do not know yet, you DO NOT need a Piro test for the finals in Gallup. Save your money, you got some bad information.

Looks to be another exciting year for the finals here in Gallup. Once again the Local Family operated businesses have stepped up with their sponsorships and advertising. Look for the Big Blue Banners on the stores that support this event. Full list of those folks coming soon.

Last week The VP of the Navajo Nation gave his blessing to starting the National High School and Jr. High Associations On the Navajo Nation. This is just the first step of many, but it is a start, so keep your fingers crossed.

This year at the JR High Nationals, the Kids are doing a decorated Stick horse contest. Each state will bring a decorated stick horse that we will place in sponsoring, and advertising businesses in Gallup. The kids will have to go into those businesses to vote for the best horse. Stay tuned for more details later
