โœจ Meet our Participant of the Month: Shasity Tsosie! โœจ

"I'm Shasity, and I'm a Navajo Nation native. I like to run and hike with my dog, Baxter, to keep active. I consider myself to be a driven Dine woman who appreciates lifelong learning. I strive to learn to fulfill my curiosity.
When I applied for the NIYC program one of the challenges I faced was the absence of financial aid to pay for books, tuition, and transportation. After discussing my difficulties with a classmate, I was directed to the NIYC program. I too initially became aware of the program at this time, and I immediately applied to have my then-expensive books covered.
NIYC assisted with my first semester's books which were a huge help. Second, the NIYC program helped cover my monthly tuition as well. Additionally, it helped with food and transportation.
The Native American community is the source of my drive. I've been able to accomplish my goal and give back to the community by observing the acute and chronic health disparities. My path won't end here; I'll keep developing and establishing stronger roots with Native American communities."

Weโ€™re so proud of her hard work, positive attitude, and the bright future sheโ€™s building. Congratulations, Shasity! you did it! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŒŸ Participant of the Month ๐ŸŒŸ

Please join us in congratulating Kaytoinette Ross for being recognized as our Participant of the Month! ๐ŸŽ‰

Kaytoinette has shown outstanding dedication, professionalism, and a positive attitude throughout their time in the program. Their hard work and commitment not only help them grow, but also inspire others in our community.

"My name is Kaytoinette Ross. I will be starting school at Northern Arizona University. I just recently graduated from High School and from UNM-Gallup with my associateโ€™s degree in general studies. I was in the GMCS Career Pathways program and placed at the National Indian Youth Council for the school year 2024-2025. I plan to pursue a bachelorโ€™s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. I am hoping to build sustainable tourism within my community. A barrier I faced when I started at NPAC was one of my graduation requirements I needed is to complete 1,200 internship hours. I didnโ€™t know how to start with this. I was very intimidated by how big my workload would be by trying to complete those hours and being a full-time student.NPAC has offered me so much support. Their team here in Gallup have provided me with the opportunity to intern for the Cityโ€™s amazing tourism & marketing department. I have gained so much experience. I can confidently say that I was fortunate to gain a support system here.My motivation for accomplishing my goals is to make my family & mentors proud of me. I want to make sure that I put just as much time and energy into being successful as they have for me. Not many kids my age get this opportunity. So, I want to make the most out of this experience. I am beyond grateful that I am fortunate enough to make that choice for myself. "

We are proud to celebrate Kaytoinette's achievements and look forward to seeing her continued success! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘

โœจ Congratulations, Kaytoinette! โœจ
