Emancipation Proclamation Celebration The Emancipation Proclamation Celebration is the longest continuously running celebration in the U.S. Held right here in Gallia County for 161 years.

The Emancipation has been celebrated in Gallia County, Ohio continuously since 1863. It is reported to be the longest continuous celebration in the United States. Historically, the original celebration was always on the 22nd of Sept. This coincided with President Lincoln's historic signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared slaves "thenceforth and forever more free".

In honor of the late Tommy Sprague, his family, including his daughter and longtime committee member Karen Sprague, will once again be sponsoring the registration fees for all participants!!!

ATTENTION 160th Annual Emancipation Celebration Vendors:

You may begin setting up on Friday between the hours of 9am-3pm. Please leave the sidewalks open and available for wheelchairs/walking/strollers. You will be responsible for providing your own equipment (tents, tables, chairs, extension cords, ect.) If you choose to set up on Saturday, this will need to be completed before opening ceremonies at 10am. I expect all trailers/trucks to be moved off campus and parked accordingly as soon as they are unloaded.

There will be NO SMOKING near other vendors and guests of the Emancipation.

Food Vendors:
Please bring everything you need to operate and be ready by 11am.
Physical food trucks will be set up on College Avenue.
Food Vendors with tents will be placed in front of Allen Hall.

Other Vendors:
You will be placed on both sides of the Fine Arts Building. I will mark these locations, but they will be first come, first serve. Unless told otherwise, all vendors will be outside.

Beau Sang State Farm/Kayla Rife Facepainting: You will have a centralized location beside the clock tower outside of the Fine Arts Building.

256 Motors/Robin Fowler State Farm: You will be set up beside Rhodes Student Center. Your position will be marked.

Big News!!!

Ratliff Pool Center will be sponsoring something a little "MAGICAL" by Mark Wood Fun Show that includes a stage show and balloon art for the kids on Saturday, September 16th during the 160th Annual Emancipation Day Celebration "Kid's Day"!!!!!!
