I am not able to do anything with this account. I can't activate it or deactivate it without losing my own profile. So, until I find something out , This page is lost , sorry , I will try the best I can
At this point I guess it doesn't matter because , it is mute point to try and save something that no one wants saved.

This is what I get when I tried to click on the Historical page.
If you look for it , it will not come up in a search.
I don't know what has happened.
We still are not able to find someone willing to take over and run the Society.
Now it seems like all that I have tried to do is for nothing .
I will see what I can do to find out what happened
IF not , I will try and start a Historical Picture and info page that I can run be not be a ''meta business page.

Just a reminder, in Oct of 2021, the historical society was given the complete works of Max Tawney/and studio in the form of negatives... at the point of accepting the works, we roughly estimated nearly 30 thousand negatives all boxed up in yellow Kodak film boxes.
At this point, we weren't sure what we could do with them... but we set out on a mission to learn the easiest and cheapest way to convert them , and be able to share these treasures with the public...
In 2022, Teresa Stevers Antonopoulos who had been working with me (Cheryl) on the project , found a way of adding photos in Albums on Flickr and so the project , Teresa called Positively Negatives was born .. I can't tell you how many albums there are , but there are as of today 15,202 photos that have been converted from the negatives. The years span from 1938 to somewhere in 2000's , at least 80 years of Max Tawney's behind the camera shots.

(BTW, Teresa, is the person in charge.... of all the converting of negatives. For a while I tried to help, but as we all know, 2022 is when I was diagnosed with cancer and I couldn't begin to do what I wanted to , I gave it to Teresa, and she has done wonderful things..)

We would love for you to share this project . We have a page .
Every week new albums and special faces are posted on the page for you to enjoy.
Now remember, negatives don't have names... but we rely on people who are regular guests on our page , to jump in and identify the people in the pictures. There are instructions on the FB page on how to do this...and we enjoy , your joy in finding photos of neighbors, friends and relatives....
So, will like us , and join us in our quest to Identify photos, I hope so...
Here is the FB page https://www.facebook.com/positivelynegatives

Well, the Gallia County Junior Fair, just wrapped up their 75th Anniversary with a successful run, although prices of entertainment and rides and gate fees were up... The Fair grounds were a full , and for the first time in a very long time... the weather was dry.
I am going to put in the comments , 4 links to photos from the Max Tawney project Positively Negatives , so that you can reminisce with the Fair in the 1960 and 1956 era.

No one can say exactly how these 3 churches have caught fire,
the congregations, and friends of the churches are suspecting a human element in the fires....

The fire happened around 7:05 a.m.

Happy Bastille Day to our French founding families

Bastille Day, national holiday in France and its overseas départements and territories, marking the anniversary of the fall on July 14, 1789, of the Bastille, in Paris. Originally built as a medieval fortress, the Bastille eventually came to be used as a state prison. Political prisoners were often held there, as were citizens detained by the authorities for trial. Some prisoners were held on the direct order of the king, from which there was no appeal. Although by the late 18th century it was little used and was scheduled to be demolished, the Bastille had come to symbolize the harsh rule of the Bourbon monarchy. During the unrest of 1789, on July 14 a mob approached the Bastille to demand the arms and ammunition stored there, and, when the forces guarding the structure resisted, the attackers stormed the prison and released the seven prisoners held there. The taking of the Bastille signaled the beginning of the French Revolution, and it thus became a symbol of the end of the ancient regime

We are trying desperately to find help in opening the Society. So far, we do have a volunteer who will be opening the Society on Saturday's. From 11am to 1pm. It is a start.
We have damage to the back of the building over the very back room .That section needs a new roof, none of our collection is in danger, but we need to find funds to replace it.
Hopefully , something good will come of our efforts
Please keep Irene in your prayers on top of all that ha been happening g with her health, she lost her 92 year old father this past week. His funeral is today. He was a large supporter of history in the area. He will be missed.
