Successful reunification doesn't happen overnight. It takes commitment, resources, support, and a network of people working together to help families build a safe and stable future.

During Reunification Month, we recognize the parents, caregivers, caseworkers, advocates, and community partners who play a role in helping families move forward. When reunification can be achieved safely, children benefit from maintaining important family connections.

When a child’s life is being decided in juvenile court or Safe Baby Court, their story should be heard clearly and fully.

That’s where our advocates come in. CASA volunteers read reports, talk with caregivers and teachers, visit with the child, and then share what they learn with the judge. Their focus is on what is safest, healthiest, and most stable for this child in the long run.

Because of your generosity, we were able to put your support into action today, for a family taking an important step forward.

After more than a year apart, a mother and her children have been reunited through a trial home pass. Through the hard work, commitment, with the support of our Safe Baby Court program and her DCS FSW, this mom has made incredible progress; navigating recovery, participating in therapy, maintaining employment, and working every day to build a stable future for her children.

Thanks to those who donated to our recent gift card drive and to everyone who supports Sumner County CASA throughout the year, we were able to provide a care package filled with much-needed items, including training pants, wipes, hygiene products, and other essentials to help ease some of the financial pressure during this transition.

We were also honored to include activity books for the youngest siblings through a special donation made in memory of a former CASA volunteer. What a beautiful way to continue their legacy of caring for children.

At CASA, we often talk about walking alongside children and families through their journey. This is what that looks like. We will remain involved during the 90-day trial home pass, helping ensure the family has the support they need as they adjust to being together again.

Thank you for believing in second chances, for supporting families working to make positive changes, and for helping make moments like this possible.

You don’t need a law degree or a special background. We provide training, guidance, and ongoing support. Visits and meetings can often be planned around work and family schedules, and our team is there to help you along the way.

Today we’re celebrating 11 years of leadership, advocacy, and heart at Sumner County CASA!

For 11 years, Executive Director Sonya Manfred has fought tirelessly for children in foster care, ensuring they have a voice, an advocate, and someone who keeps showing up for them.

Her passion for this mission has helped impact thousands of children and strengthen our community in countless ways.
